Airport limo from Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke: one city, three drives
Toronto is one municipality, but a resident of Etobicoke and a resident of Scarborough live in different airport worlds. From Kipling or Islington, Toronto Pearson is a short hop west, 9 to 15 km on a good day. From the far end of Scarborough, the same airport is the other side of the whole city, close to 48 km away and a dull hour behind the wheel when Highway 401 is busy. North York sits between the two and gets the most variable result, because it feeds into every highway that matters.
An airport limo from Scarborough, North York or Etobicoke to Toronto Pearson covers roughly 9 to 48 km depending on the district and takes 15 to 50 minutes off-peak, up to 100 minutes at the worst weekday peaks. Onroutz.ca tracks your flight and quotes a fixed fare for your exact address before you pay.
This page is written for people who live or work in these three districts and need a car to or from Pearson, or to the city airport at Billy Bishop. It sets out realistic distances, how the roads behave, how a private car compares with the TTC and the UP Express, and what the pickup looks like in practice. If you are further out, the GTA airport limo hub lists every suburb, and the Toronto overview explains how the service runs across the region.
How far is Pearson from each district?
These are typical road distances and drive times, rounded from route-planner estimates. Your own address will move them a few kilometres either way.
| Starting area | Road distance to Pearson | Off-peak drive | Weekday peak |
|---|---|---|---|
| Etobicoke: Kipling, Islington, Mimico | about 9–15 km / 6–9 mi | 12–22 min | 25–45 min |
| Etobicoke: Humber Bay Shores, Sherway area | about 15–22 km / 9–14 mi | 18–30 min | 35–60 min |
| North York: Yorkdale, Downsview | about 18–24 km / 11–15 mi | 18–30 min | 40–70 min |
| North York: Yonge and Sheppard, Willowdale | about 25–30 km / 16–19 mi | 25–40 min | 50–80 min |
| North York: Don Mills, Fairview | about 28–34 km / 17–21 mi | 30–45 min | 55–90 min |
| Scarborough: Kennedy, Scarborough Town Centre | about 38–45 km / 24–28 mi | 35–50 min | 65–100 min |
| Scarborough: Guildwood, Rouge Hill, Toronto Zoo area | about 45–55 km / 28–34 mi | 45–60 min | 75–110 min |
Billy Bishop is closer to all three districts for anyone who flies with an airline that uses it, and the Billy Bishop page explains the tunnel and ferry access. The point of this table is Pearson, because that is where long-haul and most connecting flights leave from.
The roads: Highway 401, 427, 409 and 400
Highway 401 is the spine of every one of these trips, and it is the road that decides the timing. From Scarborough you join it at Kennedy, Brimley or Markham Road and run the whole width of the city to the airport interchanges. From North York you can take it at Yonge, Bayview or Leslie, or avoid it with Highway 400 and 427 on the west side. From Etobicoke you join it for a few minutes or skip it altogether with Highway 427 or 409.
The collector and express lanes matter. A chauffeur who drives the 401 daily knows when the collectors move better than the express lanes and which interchange is worth avoiding. The Highway 409 spur takes you directly to the terminals, and Highway 427 is the other way in from the north and the south.
If the 401 is stopped by an incident, the fallback depends on your start. From North York the 400 and 407 combination is workable; the 407 ETR is fully electronic, so there is no cash lane and the chauffeur handles the tolling. From Scarborough the realistic alternatives are thin, which is why the fixed fare and the early start are worth more here than anywhere else in the region.
Scarborough airport limo: the long drive across the city
Scarborough is the district where a private car earns its keep. The trip is the longest in the city, the public-transit alternative takes the longest, and the people who live there often fly early.
Landmarks and typical pickups. Scarborough Town Centre, the University of Toronto Scarborough campus, Centennial College's Progress campus, the Scarborough Bluffs along the lake, the Toronto Zoo and the Rouge National Urban Park all generate airport runs. Hotel and apartment pickups near Kennedy and Eglinton are common, as are family homes in Agincourt, Guildwood and Malvern.
Time of day matters more than the distance. A 5:00 a.m. departure from Scarborough Town Centre gets you to Terminal 1 in under 40 minutes. The same trip at 7:30 a.m. on a Monday can take twice as long. For flights before 9:00 a.m., book the car for early enough to absorb a bad morning.
Neighbours to the east. If you live past the city limit, the Durham Region page covers Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa.
North York airport limo: five highways, one decision
North York is large, central and fast-moving. Willowdale, Yonge and Sheppard, Don Mills, Fairview, Bayview Village, Downsview and Yorkdale all route differently to the airport.
From the west side, near Yorkdale and Downsview, Highway 401 west or Highway 400 north to the 407 and then 427 south are real options and the chauffeur picks on the day. From the Yonge corridor the 401 west is shorter but more exposed. From Don Mills and Leslie, the Don Valley Parkway to the 401 is the usual choice outside peak, with a 404 and 407 detour when the DVP is slow.
North York is also the district where corporate travel is dense. Head offices along Sheppard and Yonge, the Don Mills business parks and the hospital campuses fill the early-morning and late-evening airport slots. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing, and multi-leg itineraries on one booking, suit that pattern.
Etobicoke airport limo: the closest district, the easiest trips
Etobicoke is next door to Pearson. From Kipling, Islington and Mimico the drive is often shorter than the time you spend at the kerb in departures.
A private car is the sensible choice here for three reasons that have little to do with distance. First, the TTC's Line 2 ends at Kipling, which makes the bus easy only if you live near it. Second, Etobicoke has a large number of hotels and condo towers where arrivals need a name-board pickup and a car that waits. Third, many Etobicoke trips are from the airport, not to it: guests arriving for a wedding, a conference or a family visit.
Typical Etobicoke pickups include Humber Bay Shores, Sherway Gardens, Woodbine and the Kipling and Islington corridors. For airport hotels, the car can usually stop at a hotel door in minutes after you collect your bags.
Airport transfer options compared for these three districts
Etobicoke can reach the TTC's 900 Airport Express easily. North York and Scarborough usually mean a change onto the subway. Here is how the choices compare to a private car.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private car | 12–60 min off-peak depending on the district | Fixed fare via the booker | Fits family luggage | Early flights, 3+ travellers, heavy bags |
| TTC 900 Airport Express from Kipling Station | 45–90 min including the subway ride to Kipling | TTC single fare, no separate airport fare | One or two bags | Etobicoke and Line 2 riders, single trips |
| TTC subway to Union, then UP Express | 55–100 min | UP Express adult fare listed by Toronto Pearson at $12.35 in 2026 ($9.25 with PRESTO), plus TTC fare | Stairs and transfers | Downtown stopovers, light packers |
| Metered taxi | 15–60 min | Metered, plus airport fees | Fits family luggage | Short notice |
| Rideshare | 15–60 min | Surge-priced at peak times | Depends on the car | Quick, one-off trips |
The TTC says the 900 Airport Express runs between Kipling Station and Pearson, stopping at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, with hours from about 5:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday to Saturday and from about 8:15 a.m. on Sundays. A single TTC fare covers the trip. The UP Express reaches Pearson from Union Station in about 28 minutes.
When the TTC or the train is the better choice, and when the car wins
If you live right beside Kipling Station, travel alone with a single bag and fly at midday, the 900 is cheap, regular and easy. If you are already downtown and your flight is in the afternoon, the UP Express is faster than any car in heavy traffic.
The car wins when any of these are true:
- You are in Scarborough or the east of North York, where the public-transit journey is long and involves several transfers.
- Three or more people are travelling and one vehicle replaces several tickets.
- You have large bags, a stroller, a wheelchair or sports gear.
- Your flight leaves at dawn or you land late at night after a long-haul flight.
- You are travelling with children who need a car seat.
- A missed flight would cost more than the fare, as it does on most business trips.
Pickups at Pearson for Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke
Coming home is where the difference between a booked car and a taxi rank is most obvious. Every airport pickup is tracked against your flight. We include 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one, counted from landing, so the car does not leave while you are still clearing customs. On request, the chauffeur meets you inside arrivals with a name board, using an alias name if you prefer.
Pearson has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and which one you use depends on your airline. Give us the flight number and we confirm the meeting point before you land. The Pearson airport page covers curb layouts and what to expect, and visitors from abroad will find entry rules and customs steps in the guide to arriving in Toronto. Visa-exempt foreign nationals flying in need an electronic travel authorization, which costs CAN$7 on the official eTA page.
From Pearson into the city
Many airport trips from these districts end downtown rather than at a home address. If you are connecting between the airport and a hotel, a train station or an event, these pages give the route detail:
- Pearson to downtown Toronto
- Pearson to Union Station
- Downtown Toronto hotel transfers
- Toronto limousine hire by the hour
Visitors who want to see more of the region by car will find ideas in our Toronto attractions guide, including the Scarborough Bluffs and the Toronto Zoo, which are only a few minutes from many Scarborough pickups.
Vehicles and extras
The vehicle is chosen from passengers and bags and confirmed at booking.

Neighbouring suburbs
Scarborough shares a boundary with Markham, North York with Vaughan and Richmond Hill, and Etobicoke with Mississauga. If your hotel, office or family sits just across the line, the same Toronto desk covers it.
Booking, fares and cancellation
The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay. Because the three districts are so different, the fare differs, and it is shown for your address rather than a district average. Corporate accounts and multi-leg trips can be arranged through the travel desk, and the FAQ covers payment and changes.
Cancellation, counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%. Some large events have a separate deadline, and you will see it on the confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Pearson airport from Scarborough?
From Scarborough Town Centre it is roughly 38 to 45 km (24 to 28 mi), and from the far east end up to 55 km (34 mi). Off-peak the drive is 35 to 60 minutes, and in a weekday peak it can pass 100 minutes on Highway 401.
How long does it take to get to Pearson from Etobicoke?
From Kipling, Islington and Mimico the drive is about 9 to 15 km (6 to 9 mi) and takes 12 to 22 minutes off-peak. From Humber Bay Shores or Sherway, allow 18 to 30 minutes, and double that in rush hour.
Can I get a limo from Toronto Airport?
Yes. Pre-arranged limousines and chauffeured cars collect passengers at Pearson. Book ahead and your chauffeur tracks your flight and meets you at arrivals, so you skip the taxi queue after landing.
Are airport limousines worth the expense?
They are worth it for groups of three or more, early flights, heavy luggage, children and tight business schedules, especially from Scarborough where transit takes longest. For a solo traveller with one bag near Kipling Station, the 900 Airport Express is a fair alternative.
What is the cheapest way to get to the airport?
On public transit, the TTC 900 Airport Express from Kipling Station or the subway to Union and then the UP Express. A car becomes better value once there are three or more travellers or heavy bags, since one fare covers the vehicle.
How much does an airport limousine cost from North York?
The booker shows a fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay. It depends on your address, the vehicle and the hour, so we do not publish a single rate for a district this large.
Do you also serve Billy Bishop airport from these districts?
Yes. We can collect you for a Billy Bishop departure or meet you on arrival, including at the ferry and tunnel side. See the Billy Bishop page for how access works and which airlines use it.
How early should I leave for an international flight from Scarborough?
Plan to reach Pearson about three hours before departure. From Scarborough, add a larger buffer than from Etobicoke, especially on weekday mornings, and tell the booker if the flight is early so the car is scheduled to match.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Every airport pickup is tracked, so the chauffeur sees the new landing time. The free waiting period of 60 minutes after an international landing, or 30 after a domestic one, starts from landing, not from the original schedule.
