Anyone looking for a limo service in Oshawa, or in Whitby, Ajax or Pickering, is usually planning a long drive across the top of Toronto. From Oshawa to Pearson is about 66 to 71 km, and the road is mostly Highway 401, which is among the busiest freeways in North America. This page covers all four Durham towns together, because the road, the trade-offs and the timing are shared.

How far is Oshawa from Pearson, and how long does an airport limo take?

Oshawa is about 66 to 71 km from Pearson and takes roughly 50 to 60 minutes off-peak, mostly on Highway 401. Pickering and Ajax are closer, at about 47 to 55 km. On weekday rush hours the 401 through Scarborough can add an hour or more, so a safe allowance is 90 to 120 minutes.

Route planners list 70.4 km from Oshawa to Terminal 1 and 70.7 km to Terminal 3, with a drive of about 50 minutes, while another gives 66.2 km and about 59 minutes. The difference is the terminal, the starting point in Oshawa and the route. Whitby, Ajax and Pickering are progressively nearer, though even Pickering is a trip that crosses all of Scarborough and North York or Etobicoke to arrive.

The figures are clear-road numbers. In practice, the 401 between Brock Road and Highway 404 is where the delay accumulates, and the airport approach around Highway 427 adds more. We plan every Durham airport run with a margin built into the pickup time.

Two toll roads, one free: choosing between the 401 and the 407s

Durham's highways changed recently, and the rules are worth knowing.

  • Highway 407 East (provincial section). The stretch between Brock Road in Pickering and Highway 35/115 in Clarington has been toll-free since 1 June 2025, according to CP24's report of the change. The links known as Highway 412 and Highway 418 lost their tolls in April 2022.
  • Highway 407 ETR (private section). West of Brock Road, the 407 ETR remains a tolled road with no toll booths. Per its FAQ, non-transponder trips carry a camera charge of $5.30 as of 2026, plus a trip toll and a distance charge.
  • Highway 401. Toll-free, and the default for most Durham airport runs, but the most exposed to collisions and construction.

For a Durham trip, the free 407 East can take you most of the way across, and the 407 ETR can then carry you west to the 427. Whether that beats the 401 depends on the hour and the incident map. The chauffeur decides on the day, and the fixed fare you saw is unaffected.

GO's Lakeshore East line serves Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa on its way to Union Station. The extension to Bowmanville is under construction, with ground broken in January 2026 and no opening date given; Durham Region's update describes planned service every half hour at the peaks, hourly off-peak and every two hours on weekends once complete, so it does not change your plans for this year. See the Region's Lakeshore East update. The UP Express covers the last leg from Union to Pearson in about 28 minutes, per upexpress.com.

When the train is enough

A solo traveller with a carry-on, a flexible schedule and a mid-morning flight can do the trip by GO and UP Express. The train is steady on the Lakeshore East corridor, it avoids the 401 and the day is predictable once you are on board.

The honest limit is the transfer. You arrive at Union Station, move to the UP Express platform and then take another 28 minutes to the airport. In total, that is roughly two hours for a trip that a car does in 50 to 60 minutes off-peak. The train is a fair choice for a traveller who wants to pass through downtown on the way, and a poor one for a family or an early flight.

Airport taxi in Oshawa, Whitby and Ajax versus a booked car

A regular airport taxi is available from all four towns. It can be metered over a distance this long, the price is hard to predict, and a driver may not have your flight number. A pre-booked car replaces the uncertainty with a fixed fare quoted before you pay, a pickup time and flight tracking.

  • Early flights. A 2:30 am pickup is pre-arranged, not hailed.
  • Students and families. Students and visiting parents for Ontario Tech University and Durham College tend to travel on the same few term dates; a booked car avoids the scramble.
  • Business travel. Corporate accounts with monthly invoicing suit Oshawa's automotive and manufacturing businesses.
  • Children. Ask for the seat type at booking and it is fitted before pickup.
  • Groups. A Luxury SUV carries six passengers; an Executive Sprinter carries twelve.

Limo service in Ajax, Whitby and Pickering for weddings and events

Durham has a busy event calendar. Weddings at banquet halls and waterfront venues in Ajax and Whitby, concerts and sports at local arenas, and the Pickering Casino Resort bring guests who arrive at Pearson and need to reach Durham together. Onroutz.ca can run several vehicles on one schedule, from a First Class Sedan for the couple to Sprinters for guests.

Tell the desk the venue, the number of vehicles and the fixed times. A big event can have its own cancellation deadline, and the confirmation states it. See the weddings and wedding guest shuttles pages for the approach.

A sample plan for a 10:40 am international departure from Whitby

This is a template, not a promise for any particular morning.

  1. 5:45 am The chauffeur arrives and loads the bags.
  2. 5:50 am Depart westbound. The 401 is already filling in Pickering, so the chauffeur checks the 407 East and the 401 before choosing.
  3. 7:00 am Arrive at the departures level, in about 70 minutes, with margin for the Scarborough stretch.
  4. 7:40 am Check-in and bag drop, three hours before departure.

A flight that leaves mid-morning is the hardest case for a Durham resident, because the pickup lands in the heart of the morning rush. Moving the pickup an hour earlier is usually the better answer than gambling on a clear road, and the chauffeur will confirm the new minute with you.

Pearson pickup for Durham arrivals

Pearson names Door A on the arrivals level of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 as the pre-arranged pickup point, as set out on its pre-arranged services page. The chauffeur works to that door, or inside arrivals with a name board if you ask for one, with an alias if you prefer.

Durham arrivals tend to be tiring. A flight that lands at 7 pm and clears customs by 8 pm gets you into the evening 401 outbound peak, so the drive can take over an hour. The free waiting time is 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic one, counted from the actual touchdown, so a delayed flight is not a problem for the car. See the Pearson airport transfer page.

From Durham to Union Station, Billy Bishop and the rest of the GTA

A car from Oshawa or Pickering also reaches downtown Toronto, Toronto Union Station and the Billy Bishop airport. For the east-end Toronto neighbourhoods on the way, see Scarborough, North York and Etobicoke, and for the neighbouring suburbs to the north-west, see Markham.

Long-distance trips are also available. Toronto to Ottawa and Toronto to Montreal leave from the same corridor.

The region in context

Durham is the eastern end of the Onroutz.ca GTA network. The whole list of suburbs sits on the airport limo hub, and the regional picture is on the Toronto and GTA page. Visitors from outside Canada can start with the Canada overview.

Vehicles for Durham trips

Durham's distances favour space. An Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac or similar) holds three passengers, two large bags and two cabin bags; a First Class Sedan (S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) holds three in a more refined cabin. The Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali, Chevrolet Suburban or similar) takes six people and five or six large cases, the right size for a family heading overseas. The Executive Sprinter takes twelve with twelve bags, and mini-coaches and coaches of 20 to 56 seats serve wedding and student groups. Ask for a Maybach, Rolls-Royce, stretch or armoured car and the desk confirms availability with the booking. All classes are "or similar". Most vehicles have water and phone charging; the fleet page lists them.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Oshawa from Toronto Pearson Airport?

About 66 to 71 km by road. Route planners list 70.4 km to Terminal 1 and 70.7 km to Terminal 3, with a drive of about 50 to 59 minutes in light traffic. At weekday rush hour, allow 95 to 125 minutes, since the 401 is heavily loaded.

Is there a limo service in Oshawa for the airport?

Yes. Onroutz.ca dispatches Durham airport trips from Toronto with its own fleet and licensed, insured chauffeurs. You book online, see the fixed fare before you pay, and your flight is tracked for arrivals. Child seats, name boards and Sprinters are available on request.

Is there an airport taxi from Whitby or Ajax?

Yes, regular taxis and rideshare operate from both towns to Pearson, metered or surge-priced. A pre-booked car gives you a fixed fare before the trip, a confirmed pickup minute and flight tracking, which matters most for early departures and long distances.

Is Highway 407 East free to use now?

The provincial section between Brock Road in Pickering and Highway 35/115 in Clarington has been toll-free since 1 June 2025. The privately operated 407 ETR to the west still charges tolls. The chauffeur chooses the best route on the day, and your fixed fare does not change.

Is there a GO train from Oshawa to Pearson?

Not directly. GO's Lakeshore East line runs from Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax and Pickering to Union Station, and the UP Express takes you from Union to Pearson in about 28 minutes. Allow for the connection. The Bowmanville extension is still under construction.

How much does a Durham Region airport limo cost?

Enter your pickup, drop-off and vehicle in the booker and it returns a fixed all-in fare before you pay. Pickering and North Oshawa are more than 25 km apart, so one published price for "Durham" would not fit both. The quote is for your actual address, vehicle and date.

How early should I leave Oshawa for an early flight?

For a 7 am international departure, aim to be at the terminal by 4 am, which means a pickup around 2:45 to 3:00 am. For a domestic flight, an hour later. Give the desk your flight time and the chauffeur sets and confirms the exact minute.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track every airport pickup. The pickup follows the actual landing, and the free waiting window runs from touchdown: 60 minutes after an international arrival, 30 after a domestic one. If a longer delay changes your plans, the 24/7 desk can adjust the booking.
