Gulf airports are modern, busy and further from the places people want to go than the maps suggest. Dubai International sits close to the city, but Dubai's hotels run for 40 km along the coast. Abu Dhabi's main airport is about 30 km east of the capital. Riyadh's is about 35 km north. A good Gulf airport transfer is therefore less about the airport and more about the first hour: which terminal, which door, which road, and what the temperature is when you step outside. Onroutz.ca is a Toronto-based private transfer desk that books these rides through vetted, licensed and commercially insured local partners, and this hub links every Gulf page we have.
How do airport transfers work in the Middle East?
You book with Onroutz.ca in Toronto, and a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local partner drives. Your flight is tracked, the driver meets you at arrivals with a name board on request, and the booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay.
We do not own cars or offices in the Gulf. The partner delivers the ride; the Toronto desk books, confirms, supports and invoices it, so a trip that touches Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh is one booking with one confirmation, one invoice and one 24/7 contact. Every partner car is within four model years of new, except Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach, allowed up to seven. The classes are Executive Sedan, First Class Sedan, Luxury SUV and Executive Sprinter, with coaches and ultra-luxury cars on request and availability confirmed at booking. See the fleet for capacity.
Check your government's travel advice before you book. In October 2026 the Government of Canada advises Canadians to avoid non-essential travel to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Saudi Arabia because of the regional security situation, and several airlines have changed or suspended Gulf schedules during 2026. Confirm your flight with the airline, and read your own government's page, before the day. Residents, crew and business travellers who are already in the region can still book a transfer.
The Gulf gateways at a glance
Each airport page below compares the metro, taxi and booked car in detail. This table is the overview.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai International (DXB) | Downtown Dubai about 14 km; Dubai Marina about 33 km | Dubai Metro Red Line serves Terminals 1 and 3 | Taxi ranks at every terminal; Dubai Airports lists a AED 25 starting fare (2026) | Hotels on the Palm or the Marina, families, late arrivals |
| Abu Dhabi Zayed International (AUH) | About 30 km east of Abu Dhabi city | Buses at arrivals; AUH Express coach to Dubai | Metered; Visit Abu Dhabi cites about AED 70–80 into town (2026) | Yas Island, Saadiyat, trips on to Dubai |
| Doha Hamad (DOH) | About 15 km east of central Doha | Doha Metro Red Line, Hamad Intl Airport T1 station | Karwa taxis at the Taxi Pavilion | Hotels away from a metro stop, groups |

Distances are road distances rounded to the nearest kilometre, "about" where the exact figure depends on the destination.
United Arab Emirates: Dubai and Abu Dhabi
The UAE is the Gulf's most visited market and the easiest to plan, because the two big airports, the two big cities and the highway between them are all within about two hours of each other.
- Dubai International airport transfer is our full guide to DXB: Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, the Red Line metro, the airport's taxi ranks and Dubai's own meet-and-greet options.
- Dubai luxury airport transfer covers the premium end: First Class Sedan, Maybach and Rolls-Royce on request, and discreet arrivals.
- Dubai hotel transfers maps hotel districts to drive times, from the Creek and Downtown to the Marina and the Palm.
- Abu Dhabi Zayed airport transfer explains Terminal A, the 30 km run to the city and the bus links.
- Dubai Airport to Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi Airport to Dubai cover the intercity drive of roughly 130–140 km.
- Dubai to Sharjah Airport handles the low-cost carriers' base in the next emirate.
- Dubai airport meet and greet and Abu Dhabi airport meet and greet pair a name-board welcome with the ride.
- Car with driver in Dubai and car with driver in Abu Dhabi cover hourly bookings for shopping, meetings and sightseeing.
For travellers who hold a Canadian passport, the Government of Canada page says a UAE tourist visa is free, issued on arrival and valid for 90 days within a 180-day period, and that a passport needs at least six months' validity. Other nationalities should check the UAE's official entry list, because the rules differ.
Event travel: the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
Abu Dhabi closes the Formula 1 calendar each year at Yas Marina Circuit. The 2026 weekend is scheduled for 4 to 6 December, and the sport has said the calendar is confirmed. Hotels fill, traffic around Yas Island is heavy and ride-hailing queues grow after each day's final session, so a pre-booked car with a fixed pickup time is the sensible plan. See the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix transport guide and the events hub for what else we cover.
Qatar: Hamad International Airport
Doha's airport is compact and well run, and the Doha Metro has a station at Terminal 1 on the Red Line. Karwa taxis operate from the Taxi Pavilion at the left end of the arrivals hall. The airport also lists limousines, buses and ride-hailing in its to and from the airport guide. A booked car is best for hotels far from a metro station, families, or a schedule that starts straight at a meeting. The full guide is Doha Hamad airport transfer. The Government of Canada says Canadians do not need a visa for tourist or business visits to Qatar but must carry health insurance recognised by Qatar's Ministry of Public Health.
Saudi Arabia: Riyadh and the western corridor
King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh has five terminals, with Terminal 5 used by foreign carriers, and Riyadh Metro Line 4 stops at the airport. Distances inside Riyadh are long, so a booked car is often the practical choice for a business day. See Riyadh King Khalid airport transfer.
On the western side, two routes cover the Hajj and Umrah corridor: Jeddah Airport to Makkah and Madinah to Jeddah Airport. The Government of Canada states that non-Muslims are forbidden from travelling to the holy city of Mecca, and it advises conservative dress, especially in the holy cities. A Saudi tourist visa is required and can be applied for online or on arrival. Hajj is expected from 14 to 19 May 2027, and Ramadan is expected to begin around 7 February 2027; both change road conditions and timing across the Kingdom.
What to expect at a Gulf arrivals hall
Gulf terminals are organised around official meeting services, and a good driver works with them. At Dubai, the airport operator lists marhaba meet-and-greet and chauffeur services at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 arrivals, and a Greet & Go point in Terminal 3 arrivals for guests connecting with their transport provider. At Doha, the airport's own limousine desk uses gates 2 and 3 of the arrivals hall. At Abu Dhabi, Visit Abu Dhabi points arrivals to a Visitor Information Centre near the taxi stand. Your booking confirmation names the meeting point for your driver, so you are not guessing on landing.
When to choose a private transfer in the Gulf
The metro, the bus and the airport taxi each have a place. The Gulf's public transport is often good, clean and inexpensive, and we say so on every airport page. A private transfer is the better choice when:
- you are three or more travellers, or carrying more than two bags each;
- your hotel is on the Palm, in a resort cluster or beyond a short walk of a station;
- you land after midnight or before dawn;
- the first appointment is an hour after landing;
- children need a seat on the way in; child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking; or
- you want a driver who knows the building entrance, the lobby and the quietest road.
Cancellation terms are counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show, 100%. For large events the cut-off can differ, and the confirmation says so. Onroutz.ca is a transport service, not a security company; it has no armed drivers and works alongside a client's own security team.

Frequently asked questions
Can Onroutz.ca arrange transfers in the Gulf if I am travelling from Canada?
Yes. You book in Toronto; a local partner in the Gulf drives. The desk confirms the booking, supports the trip 24/7 and invoices once. The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact trip before you pay.
Which Gulf airport has a metro station?
Dubai International is served by the Dubai Metro Red Line at Terminals 1 and 3. Doha Hamad has a Doha Metro Red Line station at Terminal 1. Riyadh's Metro Line 4 serves the airport terminals. Abu Dhabi has bus links at arrivals.
Do I need a visa for the UAE, Qatar or Saudi Arabia?
It depends on your passport. The Government of Canada says Canadians receive a free 90-day tourist visa on arrival in the UAE and need no visa for tourist visits to Qatar, while Saudi Arabia requires a tourist visa that can be obtained online or on arrival. Check your own government's page.
Is it safe to travel to the Gulf now?
Travel advice changes and we do not give security assessments. Read your government's current advice and confirm your flight. The Government of Canada advises avoiding non-essential travel to the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia at the time of writing.
Can you meet me inside arrivals with a name board?
Yes, on request, with an alias on the board for privacy if you prefer. Flight tracking is included on every airport pickup, and we allow 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing.
Do you cover Makkah and Madinah?
We cover the Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah corridor road routes for travellers permitted to visit. Non-Muslims may not enter Makkah. Hajj visas are separate; please check the Saudi authorities for rules.
Can I get a car for several days or by the hour?
Yes. See the pages for a car with driver in Dubai and in Abu Dhabi. Multi-leg itineraries sit on one booking, which suits a trip that mixes airport runs and city days.
