Car service from Orlando Airport: how it works for a family arrival
Orlando International (MCO) is the airport that feeds the theme parks, and a large share of the Canadians who land here are families with strollers, car seats and more luggage than a taxi boot accepts. A pre-booked car service from Orlando airport solves the unglamorous part of the trip: one confirmed vehicle, a driver who has tracked your flight, and a fare you agreed to before you left Toronto.
Onroutz.ca books, confirms and invoices the transfer from Toronto. A vetted, licensed and commercially insured Florida transfer partner drives it. This page covers MCO's terminals, how the airport's own options compare with a private car, drive times to the parks, International Drive and the cruise terminals, and the honest cases where the bus or a rail ride is enough.
How do I get from Orlando airport to Disney, Universal or International Drive?
Book a private car, take a taxi, use a ride app or ride the local bus. Walt Disney World is about 40 km (25 mi), 30 to 45 minutes; International Drive is about 17 km (11 mi), 20 to 35 minutes. The airport's page lists taxis, shuttle vans, hotel shuttles, a local bus and limousines as the choices.
Terminals at MCO
MCO has three terminals. Terminals A and B share one building on the north side of the airfield and reach four airside concourses by automated people mover. Southwest, Frontier and Avelo use Terminal A, while most other U.S. airlines use Terminal B. Terminal C, the South Terminal Complex, handles JetBlue and most non-U.S. international carriers, and it connects to the airport's Intermodal Terminal by an elevated walkway. The airport's Terminal C page describes the layout. Your booking records the terminal from your flight number.
Arriving from Canada
A Toronto flight into Orlando may be a U.S. domestic arrival. Pearson is one of ten Canadian airports with U.S. preclearance, which means the CBP inspection happens in Canada before boarding. CBP's preclearance page lists the airports. On a pre-cleared flight you walk off the plane into the U.S. system without a customs queue, and our 30-minute domestic waiting window applies.
Orlando airport transportation compared
The airport publishes approximate rates for its ground options. Those figures are third-party public numbers, so they appear below as the airport states them. They are approximations, and they change.
| Mode | Door-to-door to Disney resorts | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private car (Onroutz.ca) | 30–45 min; 50–70 min at peak | Fixed fare via booker | Whole luggage, door to door | Families, groups, tight schedules |
| Taxi | 30–45 min | Metered; the airport lists up to $52–$68 for Disney resorts (approximate, 2026) | Boot or van | Pairs with light luggage |
| Ride app | 30–50 min | Surge-priced | Standard car space | Couples, a few bags |
| Shuttle van (shared) | 60–120 min with other hotel stops | Per-seat, set by operator | Per operator | Solo travellers, flexible timing |
| Local bus | 60–90+ min | $2, or $4 for the Disney resorts area (approximate, 2026) | You carry it | Patient solo travellers |
| Hotel shuttle | Varies | Free where the hotel provides it | Per hotel | Airport-area and some resort hotels |
What the airport says about taxis and the bus
The airport's ground transportation page lists hotel shuttles, local buses, ride-sharing, shuttle vans, taxis and vehicles for hire for local travel, and rail, Amtrak and out-of-town shuttles for onward travel. It gives taxi fares as ranging from the low teens to around $52–$68 for Disney resorts and $115 to Port Canaveral, which shows how steeply a metered ride scales with distance. Use those numbers as context, not a quote.
Brightline at the Terminal C hub
The Intermodal Terminal beside Terminal C holds Brightline's Orlando station, with service to West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami. It is a good option if your trip is Orlando to South Florida. It does not serve the theme parks, so it does not replace a transfer to your resort.
When the bus or shuttle van is enough, and when it is not
If you are one adult with a single bag, staying at a hotel on a bus line, and you land well before rush hour, the local bus does the job for a few dollars. A shuttle van is worth considering for a couple who do not mind sharing and have a flexible check-in time.
Shared vans, though, make several stops on the way to the parks, and a 30-minute drive can become a two-hour trip. A private car is the better call when:
- You are three or more, or you have a toddler and a stroller
- You land after 8 p.m. and want to be asleep at the resort rather than waiting for a full van
- You are arriving on a weekend, when ship-day traffic and rental-car lines both build
- Check-in is tight, such as a villa or a timed resort arrival
- Any traveller needs a child, toddler or booster seat, which we arrange on request
Drive times from MCO
Orlando's problem is not distance; it is the choke points. The airport is on the southeast side, the parks are to the west and southwest, and the tolled expressways (SR 528, the Beachline, and SR 417, the GreeneWay) carry most of the load.
| Destination | Road distance | Typical drive time | Peak caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| International Drive and the Convention Center | about 17 km / 11 mi | 20–35 min | 45–60 min on weekday evenings |
| Universal Orlando | about 22 km / 14 mi | 25–40 min | 50 min or more at park closing |
| Downtown Orlando | about 19 km / 12 mi | 20–35 min | 45 min in the 4–6 p.m. peak |
| Walt Disney World resorts | about 40 km / 25 mi | 30–45 min | 60–75 min at park opening and closing |
| Kissimmee and Celebration | about 40 km / 25 mi | 35–55 min | Heavier on US-192 in the evenings |
| Port Canaveral | about 72 km / 45 mi | 45–60 min | Allow 75 min on a Saturday ship day |
Tolls and the E-PASS question
Both SR 528 and SR 417 are tolled and electronic. The airport's parking garages accept E-Pass and SunPass transponders, and the transfer partner's vehicles are equipped. You do not need to carry cash for tolls on a private transfer; the fare in the booker is all-in.
Why Disney arrivals cluster
Resort check-in times and the afternoon flight banks create a cluster of arrivals between about 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. If you are choosing flights, a morning arrival often makes the Disney leg easier. If you cannot choose, the driver's job is to know which of the tolled routes is moving that day, not just which is shortest on a map.
Cruise days: Orlando airport to Port Canaveral
Orlando is the gateway for Port Canaveral, a 72 km (45 mi) run east on the Beachline. Cruise lines run on strict embarkation windows, so the transfer is booked around the ship, not the flight alone. Our dedicated page, Orlando airport to Port Canaveral, covers timing, luggage and what happens if the flight is late. There is also a Port Canaveral cruise page and the broader cruise transfers hub.
Disney and the other parks
For the Walt Disney World leg, see Orlando airport to Disney World, and for resort-by-resort details, our Orlando resorts hotel transfers page. Tell us the resort name, because the driveways differ, and the gate for a deluxe resort is not always where a map pin sits.
Cars and capacity for the family trip
Families fill vehicles fast, so check the numbers:
- Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali, Chevrolet Suburban or similar): up to 6 passengers, 5 to 6 large bags. The sensible class for four or five with a stroller.
- Executive Sprinter (Mercedes-Benz Sprinter): up to 12 passengers, 12 bags, for reunions and multi-family trips.
- Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac or similar): up to 3 passengers, 2 large and 2 cabin bags, for couples and business travellers.
Models are confirmed at booking. The fleet page lists every class, and larger groups can ask for a mini-coach or coach of 20 to 56 seats.
Meet and greet and flight tracking
Name-board meet and greet is available on request, with your name or an alias on the board. Many families prefer it because the driver helps with the stroller and the bags while the kids stay with the adults. See the meet and greet page for more.
All airport pickups are flight-tracked. We include 60 free minutes after an international landing and 30 after a domestic one, and 15 on other pickups. A delay at the departure airport moves the driver, not the fare.
Booking, vehicles and cancellation
Book on the online booker with your flight number, resort or hotel, party size and bag count. The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay. We then confirm the driver and give you a 24/7 contact. Water and phone charging are available in most vehicles. Chauffeurs are licensed and commercially insured, and partner vehicles are no more than four model years old.
Cancellation terms
More than 72 hours' notice: no charge. 72 hours or less: 10%. 48 hours or less: 50%. 24 hours or less or a no-show: 100%, counted from the scheduled pickup. A convention or big event may come with a different cancellation window, shown on your confirmation.
Orlando with other Florida stops
Many trips combine Orlando and Miami. See the Miami airport page and Miami Beach hotel transfers. For all other U.S. cities, the U.S. region hub lists everything we serve, and the airport transfers hub explains the service. For corporate meetings, our executive car service covers invoicing.
Frequently asked questions
How much is an Uber from Orlando airport to Disney?
A ride-app fare depends on distance, time of day and demand, and it surges in the afternoon arrival bank and after park closing. The airport lists taxi fares to Disney resorts as high as $52–$68, as an approximation. Our private fare is fixed and shown in the booker before you pay.
How far is Orlando airport from Disney World?
About 40 km (25 mi) by road. The trip usually takes 30 to 45 minutes, and 60 to 75 minutes around park opening and closing times. The route runs largely on SR 528 and the toll roads, so a driver who watches live conditions matters more than the map distance.
Is there a train from Orlando airport?
Yes, but to South Florida, not to the parks. Brightline's Orlando station sits at the airport's Intermodal Terminal beside Terminal C and runs to West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura and Miami. For the theme parks you still need a car, bus or shuttle.
Is there a free shuttle from Orlando airport to my hotel?
Many hotels run free shuttles, and the airport lists hotel shuttles as free. Whether yours does depends on the hotel, so ask before you fly and check the hours. Resort shuttles often run on fixed schedules that miss late arrivals, which is where a private car helps.
How long does it take to get from Orlando airport to Port Canaveral?
About 72 km (45 mi), usually 45 to 60 minutes. Allow 75 minutes on a Saturday ship day, when the Beachline carries heavy traffic. The airport's own page lists a taxi at about $115, as an approximation. We fix the fare in advance.
Do you provide car seats from Orlando airport?
Yes. Add a child seat at booking; infant, toddler and booster sizes are available. Tell us each child's age and weight so we can confirm the correct seat. Please do not wait until you arrive, because seats cannot be added reliably at the kerb.
What happens if my flight to Orlando is delayed?
The driver is tracking the flight and adjusts. We include 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic landing, counted from the landing time. A pre-cleared flight from Toronto Pearson lands as domestic, so the 30-minute window applies.
Can you fit six people and luggage in one car?
Yes, in a Luxury SUV with up to 6 passengers and 5 to 6 large bags. For seven or more, or heavy luggage, the Executive Sprinter takes up to 12 passengers and 12 bags. Give us the number of travellers and bags at booking.
