Dubai International is a major international hub, and landing there for the first time can feel like walking into a small city. Three terminals, long walks, passport control, baggage, a taxi rank and a Metro station all compete for your attention. A Dubai Airport meet and greet removes the guesswork from the last part of the journey: a chauffeur is waiting inside arrivals with your name on a board, and the car is arranged before you land.
This page explains exactly what our meet and greet is, what it is not, how the arrivals process at DXB works, and how it compares with the other ways to leave the airport. Book it with the transfer, and the booker shows a fixed all-in fare for your pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay.
What is a meet and greet at Dubai Airport?
At Onroutz.ca, a meet and greet is an arrivals-hall pickup: your chauffeur waits inside arrivals with a name board, your flight is tracked, and you are taken to the car. It is added to a private transfer on request. It is not an airside escort or an immigration fast-track.
The service is built around the transfer, not sold as a separate product. You book the car to your hotel, home or meeting, and ask for the name-board greeting at the same time. On request, an alias name can appear on the board, which is useful for privacy when the guest is a public figure, a company executive or simply someone who would rather not have their surname held up in a crowd.
What a Dubai airport meet and greet includes
- A chauffeur waiting inside arrivals, holding a name board.
- Flight tracking on the pickup, so the greeting follows the real landing time and not the scheduled one.
- 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing, 30 after a domestic landing. The clock starts at landing.
- An alias name on the board on request.
- Child, toddler and booster seats on request at booking, fitted before you arrive.
- Water and phone charging in most vehicles.
- A single confirmation, invoice and 24/7 desk contact.
Discretion is part of it: no photographs of clients, no posting about trips, and an NDA if you ask for one.
What it does not include
It is worth being exact, because airport services are sold in many ways. Our greeting takes place in the arrivals hall, after you have cleared passport control and collected your bags. We do not offer airside access, immigration processing on your behalf or priority queues. If you want help moving through immigration, the airport and your airline run their own assistance, and Dubai Airports directs travellers needing special assistance to their airline. The Dubai Airports special assistance page explains how to request it.
How arrivals at DXB work, step by step
- Disembark and walk to passport control. Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are large, and some gates are served by an airport train. Dubai Airports lists a short airport train ride to the D Gates in Terminal 1 and to the A Gates in Terminal 3.
- Passport control. Dubai Airports states that citizens of Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States are among those eligible for a free visa on arrival; see its passport control and visas page. Smart Gates are available for eligible travellers, including visa-on-arrival guests with biometric passports, but not for families with children, guests with large strollers or guests under 1.2 metres tall, who use staffed desks. The GDRFA visa office is in Terminal 3 arrivals, near Entrance 1.
- Baggage reclaim and customs. Allow time for your bags, particularly on a busy arrival bank.
- Arrivals hall. This is where your chauffeur meets you.
On a normal day, expect 45 to 90 minutes between landing and the arrivals hall. Peak banks, especially early in the morning and late at night, run longer. That is why free waiting time after an international landing is 60 minutes, and why the clock starts at landing rather than when you step through the doors.
Which terminal will you arrive at?
DXB has three passenger terminals, and your airline decides which one you use. Check the terminal on your ticket or the airport's arrivals board, because assignments can change, and tell the desk if yours does.
Give us your flight number at booking. The chauffeur is briefed with the terminal and the meeting point appears on your confirmation. If your terminal changes after you book, the desk updates the meeting point, and you can message the 24/7 contact to confirm.
Your options at the kerb compared
The meet and greet is only worth adding when it solves a problem you actually have. Here is how the common ways of leaving DXB compare to a central Dubai address, with approximate distances.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private car with name-board greeting (Onroutz.ca) | 15 – 60 min after the arrivals hall | Fixed fare via booker | Sedan 2 large + 2 cabin; SUV 5–6 large | First-time visitors, families, VIPs, late arrivals |
| Metered taxi from the rank | 15 – 60 min after the rank | Metered; rank fares start at AED 25 as of 2026 | Standard boot | Short notice, one or two travellers |
| Metro Red Line from Terminals 1 or 3 | 30 – 70 min | Public fare, paid with a Nol card | Up to two pieces including hand luggage | Light packers near a station |
| Airport bus from the arrivals stands | 40 – 90 min | Public fare, Nol card required | Limited | Solo travellers with time |
| Ride-hailing app | 15 – 60 min | Surge-priced | Standard boot | Spontaneous trips |
Approximate road distances from DXB: Deira about 8 km (5 mi), Downtown Dubai about 15 km (9 mi), Dubai Marina about 37 km (23 mi) and Palm Jumeirah about 40 km (25 mi). Drive times from 15 minutes to an hour depend on the hour of day and the destination.
Public transport details come from the airport. Its taxi page says taxis operate at designated ranks in each terminal and start at AED 25. The Metro page says the Red Line serves Terminals 1 and 3, with a luggage allowance of two pieces including hand luggage, and that the airport's buses leave from stands at Arrivals in Terminals 1, 2 and 3 with payment by Nol card only.
When a Dubai Airport meet and greet is worth it
The greeting adds most value when:
- it is your first time in Dubai, or you arrive after a long flight from Toronto, New York or London;
- you travel with children, elderly relatives or a large group who need to find each other quickly;
- you are a guest of a company, hotel or event and want a named arrival;
- you arrive in the early hours, when the arrivals hall is quiet and public options thin;
- privacy matters and you want an alias name on the board.
It adds little when you are a regular visitor with one cabin bag, you know the airport and you are happy at the taxi rank or the Metro. In that case, book the car without the greeting, or use the Metro or a taxi. The right answer is the one that gets you to the hotel with the least friction.
Families, children and mobility needs
Families have two airport-specific points. Smart Gates are not open to families with children or to guests with large strollers, so allow more time at passport control. And child, toddler and booster seats must be requested at booking so the right one is in the car. If a guest needs wheelchair or other assistance, arrange it with the airline before you fly, then tell us so that the pickup is planned around it.
VIP and executive arrivals
For senior executives, delegations and public figures, the greeting is paired with discretion: an alias on the board, a chauffeur who does not photograph or post, and an NDA if required. Onroutz.ca is a transport service, not a security company, so there are no armed drivers or bodyguards, but we work alongside a client's own security team. For the premium end of the airport, see DXB luxury airport transfers. For group arrivals, the Executive Sprinter seats up to 12 passengers with 12 bags, and mini-coaches and coaches of 20 to 56 seats are available on request.
Vehicles, partner network and who is behind the booking
Pair the greeting with the car that fits your party. The Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac or similar) suits one to three guests, the First Class Sedan (S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar) suits senior guests, the Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali, Chevrolet Suburban or similar) suits families, and the Executive Sprinter takes groups. Maybach and Rolls-Royce can be requested, with availability confirmed at booking. The fleet page shows the range.
Inside the UAE, a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local transfer partner provides the car, which is never more than four model years old (seven for Maybach and Rolls-Royce). Booking, confirmation, support and the invoice all come from the Onroutz.ca desk in Toronto, so one contact covers the whole trip.
Linking your arrival with the rest of the trip
A meet and greet is often the first of several legs. The DXB airport transfers page has terminal-level detail, Dubai hotel transfers covers arrivals at hotels, and car with driver in Dubai covers hourly hire for your stay. If you continue to the capital, see Dubai Airport to Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi airport meet and greet page. The general service is described at airport meet and greet, other airports are in the meet and greet hub, and the Middle East overview lists the region. Read how private airport transfers work for the full process.
Cancellation is counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or a no-show, 100%. Major events and conventions sometimes have their own deadline; when they do, it appears on the confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
What is a meet and greet at Dubai Airport?
It is a pickup inside the arrivals hall: your chauffeur waits with a name board, your flight is tracked, and you are taken to the car. At Onroutz.ca it is added to a private transfer on request, with an alias name available for privacy.
Where will my chauffeur be waiting at DXB?
Inside arrivals, in the terminal your flight uses. The meeting point appears on your confirmation, and the chauffeur is briefed with your terminal and flight number. If your terminal changes, the desk updates the meeting point.
Does a meet and greet speed up immigration?
No. Our greeting begins in the arrivals hall, after passport control and baggage. Smart Gates are available to eligible travellers, and the airport and your airline run their own assistance for those who need help.
How long will the driver wait?
Free waiting is 60 minutes after an international landing and 30 minutes after a domestic landing, counted from landing. We track your flight, so the pickup follows the real arrival time.
Do I need a visa to enter Dubai from Canada, the UK or the USA?
The airport's own page names Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States as eligible for a free visa on arrival. Policies change, so ask your airline and the UAE authorities for the latest before you travel.
Can you put an alias name on the board?
Yes, ask when you book. It helps when privacy matters, and the chauffeur keeps the trip off social media.
Is the meet and greet available at all terminals?
Yes. DXB has three passenger terminals, and the greeting follows your flight to whichever one it uses. Give the flight number when you book.
How much does the meet and greet cost?
The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay, with the greeting included when you request it. We do not publish a flat rate that would not match your trip.
Can children and seats be arranged?
Yes. Ask for the seat you need when you book and give the children's ages, and allow extra time at passport control because families with children cannot use Smart Gates.
