The right airport transfer from Dubai airport to your hotel depends on a single fact that no booking site makes obvious: where the hotel actually is. Dubai is not a compact city. Dubai International (DXB) sits near the Creek on the old side of town, while many visitor hotels cluster 30 to 40 km down the coast at the Marina and the Palm, or in the glass towers of Downtown and Business Bay. A transfer to the wrong end of that spectrum can take twelve minutes or fifty.
This guide is organised by district, so you can match your hotel to a distance, a drive time and a sensible way to get there. For the terminals, the metro and the airport's own services, see our main Dubai airport transfer guide. The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay.
How do you book an airport transfer from Dubai airport to your hotel?
Enter your flight number, hotel name and passenger count in the booker and it shows the fixed all-in fare before you pay. A local partner drives, the Toronto desk confirms and supports the trip 24/7, and your driver meets you in arrivals with a name board on request.
The hotel name matters more than people expect. Dubai has several hotels with similar names in different districts, towers with separate entrances for residences and for the hotel, and resorts that spread across large grounds. Enter the full name and the district, and add a note if you know the entrance, the tower or the villa number. The driver then goes to the right entrance rather than to the right postcode.
Dubai hotel districts: distance and drive time from DXB
The table lists typical road distances and off-peak drive times. Rush hour adds time, mostly on Sheikh Zayed Road and on the roads toward the Marina and the Palm.
| District | Typical hotels | Distance from DXB | Typical drive time | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Deira and Dubai Creek | Business hotels, older city hotels | About 5–10 km | 10–20 min | Closest to the airport; narrow streets near the Creek |
| Bur Dubai and Al Seef | Heritage-area hotels, old-town stays | About 10–14 km | 15–25 min | Close to the Creek crossings; busy at peak hours |
| Downtown Dubai, DIFC and Business Bay | Tower hotels near Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall | About 14 km | 16–25 min | The business and shopping core; on the Red Line |
| Jumeirah beach strip | Beach hotels, Burj Al Arab area | About 25–30 km | 25–40 min | Coast road; slow on weekends near beaches |
| Dubai Marina and JBR | High-rise hotels and beach resorts | About 33 km | 25–45 min | Furthest of the dense districts; on the Red Line |
| Palm Jumeirah | Resort hotels, including Atlantis, The Palm | About 37 km | 30–40 min | One main approach road; allow extra at peak |
| Dubai World Central (DWC) | Airport hotels, Dubai South | About 60 km | 45–60 min | The second airport, per Dubai Airports |
The Downtown, Marina and Palm distances reflect widely quoted road figures of about 14 km, 32 to 34 km and 36 to 38 km respectively, and the DWC distance is from Dubai Airports. Others are approximate. For anything outside the table, such as a villa in Dubai Hills or a hotel in the desert, tell us the address and the desk will give you the drive time.

| Airport taxi (ranks at every terminal) | 20–35 min | Metered; the airport lists an AED 25 starting fare (2026) | 2–3 bags | Spontaneous trips to Downtown or Deira |
| Ride-hailing (Uber, Careem, Bolt per the airport) | 20–40 min plus wait | Surge-priced | Vehicle-dependent | Short trips with flexible timing |

Which district suits which traveller
Different trips favour different parts of the city.
- Business travellers usually choose Downtown, DIFC or Business Bay. The drive is short and the Red Line is close, but a driver is still worth booking if you land in the evening and need to be in a meeting at nine.
- Families with children often prefer the Marina, JBR or the Palm for beach access and resorts. Those are the districts where a taxi is long and a booked SUV or Sprinter is easiest. Seats for babies, toddlers and older children are provided when requested at booking.
- Short-stay and stopover travellers do well in Deira, Bur Dubai or Downtown, which are quick from the airport.
- Honeymoon and special-occasion travellers often pick the Palm or the Jumeirah strip, and a First Class Sedan or an ultra-luxury car on request suits the arrival; see the Dubai luxury airport transfer page.
- Trade-show visitors near Dubai World Trade Centre or Expo City should tell us the hall or the gate, because the venue's drop-off point can be some distance from the hotel.
What to tell the desk at booking
A few details save time at the other end:
- The exact hotel name and district. If the hotel is part of a complex, name the tower or the entrance.
- Your flight number. It gives us the terminal and the actual landing time. Tracking is included on every airport pickup.
- The passengers and the bags. An Executive Sedan takes up to 3 passengers with 2 large and 2 cabin bags; a Luxury SUV takes up to 6 with 5 to 6 large bags; an Executive Sprinter takes up to 12 with 12 bags.
- Child seats. Tell us the ages and the number of seats.
- Arrival preferences. A name-board meet and greet inside arrivals is available on request, with an alias on the board if you prefer. A paid Dubai airport meet and greet adds a path through the terminal.
- Your return plan. The return pickup is booked on the same confirmation, with the time set against your flight.
Groups, events and conference weeks
Dubai hosts large conferences and exhibitions through the cooler months, and hotels near the main venues fill quickly. For a delegation, an Executive Sprinter carries up to 12 passengers and 12 bags, and a mini-coach or coach of 20 to 56 seats can be requested for larger parties, with availability confirmed at booking. Corporate accounts can be invoiced monthly, and a multi-leg itinerary, such as a Tuesday arrival, a Thursday run to Abu Dhabi and a Saturday departure, sits on one booking. Our events hub explains how we handle larger movements, and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix guide shows an example of a peak-week plan. If your group needs a fixed schedule, add the arrival manifest to the booking notes and ask the desk how best to coordinate it.
Arrival time, check-in and luggage
Dubai hotels' check-in times vary, and many flights from North America land in the morning, long before a room is ready. Plan for that. Ask the hotel about early check-in or luggage storage before you fly, and tell the driver whether you want to go straight to the hotel or stop elsewhere first. A booked car can take you to the hotel entrance, wait while the bags are handed over (the free waiting time on non-airport stops is 15 minutes) and then continue to a morning meeting or lunch.
If you are staying on the Palm, remember that the approach to the crescent funnels onto one main road, so an arrival at the peak can add time. If you are heading to the Marina in the evening, allow for the Sheikh Zayed Road corridor, which fills from mid-afternoon.
Dubai's roads, tolls and traffic
Dubai's Salik toll gates charge per crossing, and rates vary by time of day. The fixed fare you see in the booker includes tolls, so you do not pay at the gate. Traffic is the larger variable: weekday mornings and the period from mid-afternoon into the evening are the slowest. If your hotel is in the Marina or on the Palm, the choice of road matters, and the partner's driver will choose between the main highway and the alternatives. For a day of meetings or sightseeing after you check in, a car with driver in Dubai keeps the same driver and vehicle by the hour.
Beyond Dubai: Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the region
Hotel stays often include a second city. For Sharjah and its airport, see Dubai to Sharjah Airport. For Abu Dhabi, see Dubai Airport to Abu Dhabi, a run of about 130 to 140 km. The Middle East hub covers Doha, Riyadh and the rest. If you are comparing other hotel transfers worldwide, the hotel transfers hub lists the cities we serve.
Entry rules and travel advice
Canadian passport holders get a free tourist visa on arrival valid for 90 days within a 180-day period, and a passport should be valid for six months beyond entry, according to the Government of Canada. That page, updated in August 2026, advises avoiding non-essential travel to the UAE because of the regional security situation. Airlines have changed Gulf schedules this year. We do not give security assessments; read your own government's advice and confirm your flight before you book.
Booking, vehicles and cancellation
In Dubai the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local transfer partner, and the Onroutz.ca desk books, confirms, supports and invoices it. Partners drive vehicles four model years old or newer; Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach may be up to seven. See the fleet and the FAQ.
Cancellation is counted from the scheduled pickup: more than 72 hours' notice, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less or no-show, 100%. Major events and conventions sometimes have their own deadline; when they do, it appears on the confirmation.
Frequently asked questions
How can I book hotel transfers in Dubai?
Use the booker: enter the flight, the hotel, the passengers and the bags. It shows the fixed all-in fare before you pay, and you receive one confirmation. The ride is delivered by a vetted local partner and supported by the Toronto desk around the clock.
How far is Dubai airport from the Marina and the Palm?
The Marina is about 33 km (21 mi) and the Palm Jumeirah about 37 km (23 mi). Off-peak drives are 25 to 45 minutes and 30 to 40 minutes. Allow more at the evening peak.
Which hotels are closest to Dubai International?
Hotels in Deira and Dubai Creek are the closest, about 5 to 10 km and 10 to 20 minutes. Bur Dubai and Downtown follow. Distance matters less for a booked car than for a taxi, but it still sets the drive time.
Can the driver go to my hotel's main entrance?
Yes. Give the full hotel name and, for a large complex, the tower or entrance. The driver goes to the hotel's arrivals area, and we note any access instructions from the hotel in the booking.
What if my room is not ready when I arrive?
Ask the hotel about early check-in or luggage storage before you fly. The driver can hand the bags to the hotel and continue with you to a meeting or lunch; the free waiting time on non-airport stops is 15 minutes.
Can I book a car for several days in Dubai?
Yes. Book the airport transfer and then add an hourly car with driver. Multi-leg itineraries sit on one booking with one invoice.
Are tolls included?
Yes. The fixed fare you see before you pay is all-in, so Salik toll charges are not a separate bill.
Do you offer child seats?
Yes. Infant, toddler and booster seats are supplied when you ask for them at booking. Tell us the number and the ages.
