People searching for a taxi in Niagara Falls are usually not looking for a taxi in the strict sense. They are looking for a reliable way to move a family, a wedding party or a group of colleagues between the hotel, the Falls, dinner, a winery and, sometimes, an airport on either side of the border. For some of those trips a taxi is exactly right. For others, a limo service in Niagara Falls with a fixed fare and a driver who knows the district is the better answer. This page sorts out which is which.
Niagara Falls, Ontario is in southern Ontario, which means these trips are driven by the Onroutz.ca fleet and chauffeurs, dispatched from Toronto. One booking, one confirmation, one invoice and a 24/7 desk. When you are ready, check your fixed fare: the booker shows the all-in price for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay.
What is the best way to get around Niagara Falls without a car?
Within the tourist district, the WEGO bus system, walking and metered taxis cover short hops. For airport transfers, border crossings, winery days, group nights out and anything involving luggage, children or a deadline, a pre-booked limousine or private car is easier, with a fixed fare quoted before you book.
That sentence is the whole philosophy of this page. We are not claiming that a limousine should replace a bus on a five-minute hop. We are saying where the bus and taxi stop working, and what to do then.
A limo service in Niagara Falls: what we actually do
Most bookings in Niagara Falls fall into a handful of types:
- Airport and city transfers. Toronto Pearson to a Niagara Falls hotel is the classic run; see Pearson to Niagara Falls, Toronto to Niagara Falls and Union Station to Niagara Falls. Buffalo Niagara airport is on the other side of the border; see Buffalo airport to Niagara Falls and Toronto to Buffalo airport.
- Day trips and tours. A full day from Toronto with a driver who waits, which is the format described on the private Niagara tour page.
- Hourly hire in the district. One car, one driver, a full evening: dinner, the illumination, the fireworks, and back to the hotel.
- Weddings and group events. A bridal party, guests and a photographer moving between a ceremony and a venue; see weddings.
- Winery and Niagara-on-the-Lake days. A designated driver for a group, so nobody has to think about the road.

What does a taxi cost in Niagara Falls?
Taxis in Niagara Falls are regulated by Niagara Region under By-law No. 2021-57. According to the Region's taxi licensing page, meters must be activated for all trips, and the maximum rates (as of 2026) are a $3.80 initial charge, $0.32 per 100 metres and $31 per hour of waiting time. Brokers may discount, and flat rates are allowed so long as they do not exceed the meter rate. At those maximums a 10 km metered ride comes to about $35.80 before any waiting time, which is a useful yardstick when you compare a taxi against a fixed fare. The same page notes that no new vehicle taxi plates are being issued.
For us, the point is not to claim that a limousine costs less. It is that a taxi fare is determined at the end of the trip, while ours is fixed at the start. If you are moving a group several times in an evening, or crossing the district at fireworks time, the fixed fare takes a variable out of your plan.
When the bus or train is the better choice
If you are staying near the Falls, planning a day of walking between Table Rock, Queen Victoria Park and the riverfront, and arriving by GO Train from Toronto, you do not need a car. GO Transit runs trains to Niagara Falls all year, and its Niagara package combines a GO Train fare with unlimited WEGO travel for the day. WEGO reaches Niagara-on-the-Lake, major hotels, the Whirlpool Aero Car and the Butterfly Conservatory, per GO Transit's page. Children aged 12 and under ride free on GO.
The weakness of the train is its timetable: you travel when it runs, not when you are ready. If a family has been at the Falls since morning and the evening schedule does not work, the alternative is the road.
When a private car wins in Niagara Falls
- Arrival with luggage. The GO station is a few kilometres from the Falls and most hotels are not beside it, and a Luxury SUV with five or six large bags needs no transfers.
- Children. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request, which matters on a long day.
- Groups of three to twelve. An Executive Sedan carries three, a Luxury SUV six, an Executive Sprinter 12 passengers and 12 bags.
- Late nights. The fireworks end the evening, not the day. See below.
- Border runs. A through-booking from Niagara Falls to a Buffalo flight avoids changing vehicles at the bridge.
- Weddings and corporate events. Timed pickups, multiple vehicles and one invoice.
- Discretion. What happens in the car stays there: no client photos, no social posts, and an NDA if you want one.
The fireworks and the illumination: planning a night out
The Falls fireworks are a fixture of the season. Niagara Parks lists 2026 displays nightly from May 15 to October 12 at 10 p.m., with longer holiday shows on July 1 and 4, and warns that all displays are subject to weather and that strong winds can cause cancellation. Queen Victoria Park is the best free viewing area. That calendar is for this year; in a typical year the series runs from about mid-May into mid-October, and it is worth checking the Niagara Parks fireworks page before you plan.
The transport implication is simple: thousands of people leave the same area at the same minute. A booked return, with a named pickup point and time, takes you out of the taxi queue. In the colder months, the tourism site also promotes a Winter Festival of Lights, and the same logic applies on those evenings.
Border crossings and Buffalo: the other side of the Falls
Niagara Falls, Ontario sits beside three road crossings to New York State for ordinary passenger cars: the Rainbow Bridge in town, the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge at Niagara-on-the-Lake and the Peace Bridge at Fort Erie. Border wait times for crossings into Canada are published on the Canada Border Services Agency's wait-times page, which also notes that the times do not include delays on the roads leading to a port of entry. A snapshot on October 9 showed 7 minutes for travellers at the Peace Bridge, 1 minute at the Rainbow Bridge and none at Queenston-Lewiston; those change by the hour.
For the US direction, check CBP's wait-time information, and travel with proper documents: Canadian citizens aged 16 or over need a valid passport or a Trusted Traveller Program card, according to the Government of Canada's travel advice for the United States. Other nationalities should read CBP's Visa Waiver Program page and the U.S. visa rules before they travel. Every passenger is responsible for carrying the right documents for the crossing.
Niagara-on-the-Lake and the wineries
A winery day is the classic use for a designated driver. The district lies north of the Falls along the Niagara River, and Niagara Parks' WEGO system runs an Niagara-on-the-Lake shuttle in season, as GO Transit's page notes. A group that wants to move between several estates on its own timetable is better served by a single vehicle that waits. We do not serve alcohol on board; the vehicle is a way for the group to enjoy the day without driving.
Getting to Niagara from Toronto in the first place
The distance from downtown Toronto and from Pearson to the Falls is about 130 km, usually an hour and a half on the QEW outside rush hour and up to two and a half hours on a summer Friday afternoon or a long-weekend Sunday evening. The first leg out of Toronto, not the Falls themselves, is usually where time is lost. See Toronto Pearson for how we handle arrivals before the trip begins, and how private airport transfers work if you are new to it.
Vehicles and the chauffeur
Vehicle classes are shown as "or similar", with the model confirmed at booking: Executive Sedan (Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Cadillac or similar), First Class Sedan (S-Class, BMW 7 Series or similar), Luxury SUV (Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon Denali, Chevrolet Suburban or similar) and Executive Sprinter. Mini-coaches and coaches of 20 to 56 seats, plus Maybach, Rolls-Royce and stretch limousines, are available on request, with availability confirmed at booking. See the fleet page. Vehicles and chauffeurs are licensed and commercially insured, with water and phone charging in most vehicles.
How booking works
- Enter the pickup, the destination and the date. For an evening out, enter the first pickup and use the notes for timing.
- Choose a vehicle class and see the fixed fare before you pay.
- Add your flight number, child seats or a request for an alias on the name board.
- Receive one confirmation. Corporate accounts are invoiced monthly, and multi-leg itineraries sit on one booking.

Frequently asked questions
Is a limo in Niagara Falls worth it compared with a taxi?
For short hops, a taxi is fine. A limousine earns its fare on airport runs, border crossings, groups, children and late nights, because the fare is fixed in advance and the driver waits. The booker shows our fixed fare, and Niagara Region's published taxi maximums let you compare.
How much is a taxi in Niagara Falls?
Niagara Region's taxi page lists maximum rates of $3.80 initial, $0.32 per 100 metres and $31 per hour of waiting. Brokers may discount and flat rates may not exceed the meter. These are the regulatory ceilings, not quotes for your trip.
How much is a limo in Niagara Falls?
We do not publish rates. The booker shows the fixed all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay. That fare does not change with traffic or a delayed return.
Can I take the GO Train to Niagara Falls?
Yes. GO Transit says it serves Niagara Falls all year, and it sells a package that includes unlimited WEGO travel for the day. Check GO's schedule before you travel, because track work can affect service.
What time are the Niagara Falls fireworks?
Niagara Parks lists nightly 2026 displays at 10 p.m. from May 15 to October 12, with longer shows on July 1 and 4. All displays depend on weather, and strong winds can cancel them. Dates change each year, so check the Niagara Parks page.
Can you drive me from Niagara Falls to Buffalo airport?
Yes. The cross-border run is one booking from Niagara Falls to the airport at Buffalo. Everyone in the vehicle needs valid documents for the border; Canadian citizens aged 16 and over need a passport or a Trusted Traveller card.
Can you book a driver for a winery day?
Yes. Hourly hire keeps one vehicle and one chauffeur with your group through a day of winery visits in Niagara-on-the-Lake. We do not serve alcohol on board.
What is your cancellation policy?
More than 72 hours' notice: no charge. 72 hours or less: 10%. 48 hours or less: 50%. 24 hours or less, or a no-show: 100%, counted from the scheduled pickup. Major events and conventions sometimes have their own deadline; when they do, it appears on the confirmation.
