How far is Orlando Airport to Disney World?
Orlando International Airport (MCO) is roughly 20 to 25 miles (about 35 km) from the Walt Disney World resorts, depending on which resort you are heading for. The drive normally takes 25 to 45 minutes, longer in the I-4 evening rush. For an Orlando Airport to Disney World trip, a private car goes curb to resort lobby.
Disney World is not one address. It is a resort area of about 40 square miles with its own internal roads, four theme parks, dozens of resorts and the Disney Springs shopping district. That is why the time ranges so widely. A hotel at the western edge of the property is further from the airport than a resort on the Lake Buena Vista side, and every hotel has its own entrance road and lobby.
MCO publishes its own approximate rates for several destination areas, including a "Disney Resorts Area" row and a "Lake Buena Vista Area" row. We use those below, because they are the airport's own numbers rather than a guess.
Orlando Airport to Disney World: every way compared
Public prices come from the airport's ground transportation page and are labelled "approximate" there. They are quoted "as of 2026". Our own fare is not printed on this page; the booker shows a fixed all-in fare for your exact resort and vehicle before you pay.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Onroutz.ca private car | 25–45 min plus curb pickup | Fixed all-in fare via the booker | Executive Sedan 2 large + 2 cabin; Luxury SUV 5–6 large | Families, groups, late arrivals, first visits |
| Airport taxi | 25–45 min plus taxi line | Metered; airport lists about $52–$68 for the Disney Resorts Area (as of 2026) | Boot of the car; up to 9 passengers in a larger taxi | Two or three people, one stop |
| Shuttle van | Often 45–120 min with other drop-offs | Per person; airport lists $23 or $37 for the Disney area (as of 2026) | Shared space | Solo travellers, patient with stops |
| Local bus | Longest of all the options | Airport lists $4 for the Disney area (as of 2026) | Carry-on friendly only | Very light luggage, flexible schedule |
| Ride-hail app | 30–55 min plus wait | Surge-priced | Depends on the car | Two people, light bags |
| Hotel shuttle from the airport | Not offered | Airport lists "N/A" for the Disney area | Not applicable | Not an option |
The last row matters. The airport's table shows a free hotel shuttle only for airport hotels. For Disney resorts the hotel-shuttle column reads "N/A", so do not plan on a courtesy shuttle from the terminal to your resort.
What happened to Disney's free airport bus
Many first-time visitors search for "Disney airport transfer" hoping to find the old complimentary bus. That service, Disney's Magical Express, was retired after 2021, and the airport's current ground transportation page does not list a Disney-run airport service. Guests now choose between taxis, shuttles, ride-hail, rental cars and pre-arranged private transfers. Check your resort's own website for any current arrangements before you travel, because Disney and its partners adjust these services.
When a taxi or shuttle is the right choice
For two adults with two bags going to a resort without a rush, an airport taxi is a reasonable and regulated option. The City of Orlando's vehicle-for-hire rules require taxis that pick up at the airport to use a taximeter; flat rates are not authorised. A taxi may carry up to nine passengers and charges the same rate for any number of riders, so a family of four does not pay more per head. MCO lists taxi stands for Terminals A and B on the Ground Transportation Curb, Level 1, and for Terminal C on the Arrivals Curb at Level 6.
A shuttle van has the lower per-person fare for a single traveller and the weakest for anyone with children, because it picks up and drops off other passengers on the way. With three or four hotel stops, a 30-minute drive becomes a ninety-minute ride.
The Brightline station at the airport, adjacent to Terminal C, runs trains between Orlando and Miami; it does not run to Disney. Use it if you are heading south, not to the parks.
When a private car wins
The private car makes the difference in six situations on this route.
- A family with luggage and strollers. A Luxury SUV takes up to 6 passengers with 5–6 large bags. A group of ten fits an Executive Sprinter, which takes up to 12 passengers and 12 bags.
- Young children. Child, toddler and booster seats are available on request at booking, which removes the airport-curb installation puzzle.
- Late arrivals. Your driver tracks the flight, so a 10 p.m. landing that becomes midnight does not cancel anything. Included waiting runs 60 minutes from an international landing and 30 from a domestic one.
- Multi-resort days. If you are staying across two resorts or heading to the cruise port afterwards, a car with a fixed plan keeps the logistics in one place.
- First visit to Florida. Meeting a driver who knows the resort entrances and the toll roads removes a lot of uncertainty.
- Group celebrations. Weddings, reunions and corporate groups can ride together.
Which road you take and why it matters
Most trips from MCO to Disney use the Central Florida GreeneWay (State Road 417) and then the Western Beltway (State Road 429) or Interstate 4. These toll roads move quickly most of the day. The alternative is State Road 528 and then I-4, a route that adds distance but is useful when an incident shuts the other approach. An experienced chauffeur chooses the route on the day from live conditions.
Interstate 4 is the pressure point. Its evening rush hour backs up through the Disney corridor, and on a Friday or on the first day of a school holiday the same route can run well over its usual time. Theme-park closing times also create a late-evening peak when guests head to hotels. For an evening arrival, allow extra time; for a mid-morning arrival, it tends to be lighter.
Which resort area are you heading to?
MCO's table groups most Disney hotels together, but guests experience the property in clusters.
- Magic Kingdom resorts. The Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian Village and Wilderness Lodge sit on the Magic Kingdom side of the property, which is typically the furthest from the airport side.
- Epcot and Hollywood Studios area. The BoardWalk, Yacht and Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin and the Skyliner resorts lie in the central cluster.
- Animal Kingdom area. Animal Kingdom Lodge and the All-Star resorts occupy the southern part of the property.
- Disney Springs and Lake Buena Vista. Resort hotels around Disney Springs form what MCO's table calls the Lake Buena Vista Area, where the airport lists a taxi range of about $47 to $55 (as of 2026).
- Off-property hotels. Many visitors stay in Kissimmee or on International Drive. See the Orlando resort and hotel transfers page for those routes.
Give your driver the resort name and the name on the reservation. Resort lobbies handle luggage, so the car goes to the main entrance.
Arrival day: what the pickup looks like
MCO has three terminal buildings. Terminals A and B are linked to the main complex, and Terminal C is the newer terminal, with the train station alongside it. Your confirmation tells you where your chauffeur will be, and a name-board meet and greet inside arrivals is available on request. An alias name on the board is possible if you prefer not to show your own.
The airport maintains a directory of companies permitted to collect pre-arranged passengers, and vehicles are licensed and insured. A chauffeur's job at MCO is simple: be there when you walk out, load the bags and go. Lines for baggage claim at MCO can be long on a weekend, so your free waiting time starts from the actual landing time.
For international arrivals, plan for 45–90 minutes between landing and the curb, because immigration lines vary. Domestic arrivals usually reach the curb sooner.
Departure day: Disney back to MCO
Returning to the airport, ask for pickup at least three hours before an international departure and two hours before a domestic one. If your flight leaves in the morning, a pre-booked car with a fixed pickup time avoids relying on a ride-hail app answering at 5 a.m.
If you are going from the parks to the airport with an evening flight, a car that picks you up from the resort rather than from a park exit keeps the luggage sorted.
Combining Disney with a cruise or Miami
Disney is often one half of a longer trip. If you are sailing from the Florida coast, read Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral, which covers the 45-minute drive east, and the Port Canaveral cruise page. For Miami cruises and flights, see MIA to the cruise port and Miami airport transfers. The Orlando airport page, Orlando (MCO) airport transfers, lists every other route from the airport.

How the service works in Florida
A Florida trip is booked, confirmed, supported and invoiced by the Onroutz.ca desk in Toronto, and delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local transfer partner with US-licensed chauffeurs. Vehicles are no more than four model years old. A single confirmation and a single invoice, with a desk that is reachable day and night.
Vehicle classes are "or similar", with the model confirmed at booking. See the fleet to pick between the Executive Sedan, First Class Sedan, Luxury SUV and Executive Sprinter. For families who want a driver on call between parks and dinner, the hourly-car options appear on the services hub.
Frequently asked questions
How far is Orlando Airport from Disney World?
Roughly 20 to 25 miles (35–40 km), depending on your resort, and normally 25 to 45 minutes by car. Evening traffic on Interstate 4 and Friday afternoons can stretch the trip well beyond that, so add margin on busy days.
How much is a taxi from Orlando Airport to Disney World?
The airport lists an approximate range of $52 to $68 to the Disney Resorts Area as of 2026, and the fare is metered because flat rates are not authorised for airport taxis. Your actual fare depends on traffic and the resort. For a fixed all-in fare, use the booker.
Is there a free shuttle from Orlando Airport to Disney World?
Not through the airport. Its ground transportation table shows the hotel-shuttle option as not available for the Disney Resorts Area, and the free Disney airport bus was retired after 2021. Check with your resort in case it has arranged anything new.
What is the lowest-cost way to get from MCO to Disney World?
The local bus is the lowest listed fare, at about $4 as of 2026, but it takes the longest and suits only light luggage. Shuttle vans are charged per person, and taxis per vehicle. For three or more travellers, a single private vehicle often compares well.
Can I take Uber or Lyft from Orlando Airport to Disney?
Yes, ride-hail apps operate at MCO. Pickup points differ by terminal and change, so follow the airport signs and your app. Prices are surge-priced and a standard car may not take a family's luggage and a stroller together.
How long does it take to get from MCO to Disney's Magic Kingdom resorts?
Plan 30 to 45 minutes in normal traffic, because those resorts are at the far end of the property from the airport side. Add time at the evening rush and at park closing times.
Do you offer car seats for children?
Yes. Seats for babies, toddlers and older children are provided when requested at booking. Tell us the number and ages of children so the right seats are in the vehicle.
What if my flight is delayed?
Your driver tracks the flight and adjusts to the actual landing. We include 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing and 30 after a domestic one. For a very late arrival, check that your resort has your late check-in noted.
What is the cancellation policy?
More than 72 hours' notice has no charge. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10 percent, at 48 hours or less it is 50 percent, and at 24 hours or less or on a no-show it is 100 percent, counted from the scheduled pickup. Some large events have a separate deadline, and you will see it on the confirmation.
