When is MIPIM 2027, and how do you get to the Palais?
MIPIM 2027 is listed for 16 to 19 March at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, 1 boulevard de la Croisette, Cannes. The Palais puts Nice Côte d'Azur airport 27 km away; by road it measures about 30 km. Delegates arrive by airport shuttle, train, taxi or pre-booked car; the Cannes railway station is a five-minute walk from the Palais.
Two sets of dates circulate, and they differ by a day. The organiser's site lists MIPIM 2027 as 16 to 19 March. The Palais des Festivals event listing gives 15 to 19 March, one day earlier, probably reflecting set-up time at the venue. If your flight, hotel and car are all anchored to a date, anchor them to the organiser's days and treat the 15th as an arrival day for early teams and exhibitors. Dates can move, so check the official MIPIM site before you commit to non-refundable travel.
The Palais is on the seafront at the heart of Cannes, and the whole event is organised around a handful of buildings within a few hundred metres. That helps once you are there. It makes the arrival and the evenings hard, because thousands of professionals want the same stretch of road at the same time.
For 2027 the organiser has added two satellite venues in Cannes, a Tech & AI Hub at the Gray d'Albion Hotel and a Luxury Living and Branded Residences area at the Palais Stéphanie Beach, JW Marriott Cannes. If your diary spans the main hall and one of these, plan the walk or ride between them rather than assuming they are next door.
Nice airport to Cannes: the options side by side
Almost every international delegate lands at Nice Côte d'Azur (NCE), the main airport of the Riviera. The Palais states the distance as 27 km; a road-network estimate (OSRM) measures about 30 km by road and roughly 40 minutes without traffic. In the days around the opening and closing of MIPIM the same drive can take much longer, because the A8 and the coast roads carry airport traffic, delegate traffic and ordinary Riviera traffic together.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airport shuttle bus | Check the operator's timetable; allow for waiting, and longer at peaks | Per-person ticket; check the operator's current fare | One suitcase and a carry-on is comfortable | A single traveller with light bags |
| TER train via Nice city stations | Check the TER timetable for the ride, plus the trip from the airport to the station | Regional ticket; check SNCF | Awkward with large bags | Travellers already staying in central Nice |
| Metered taxi | About 40 minutes without traffic; much longer at peaks | Metered; ask the driver about the fare before you set off | Boot space varies | One or two travellers who arrive off-peak |
| Pre-booked private car | About 40 minutes without traffic; much longer at peaks | Fixed fare via the booker | Sedan, SUV or van sized to the group | Groups, late arrivals, anyone with a meeting that day |
Nice airport has two terminals, and the Nice airport website publishes taxi and transport information for both. The Palais directs visitors to the airport express bus site for timetables and fares, and that is the right place for a current fare; the figures that circulate online differ between sources and years. For the Cannes railway station, the Palais says the walk is five minutes. The local Palm Bus network connects the town and neighbouring communes to the Palais.
When the shuttle or train is the better choice
Be honest about the cheaper options. The airport shuttle is a perfectly good way to reach Cannes if you are travelling alone, you are staying within sight of the Croisette and your day starts the following morning. The train is a good choice if you are based in Nice or Antibes and are heading to the Palais in the morning with a laptop bag, because it avoids the road. Many delegates do exactly this and are happy.
Where they struggle is the combination of luggage, time and company. Four colleagues with suitcases, one of them arriving on a delayed evening flight, do not want to be standing in a shuttle queue at 22:00. A principal travelling to a meeting at the Palais the same afternoon does not want a ride that depends on the departure board. For those cases a car with a driver is simpler. Flight tracking means the car adjusts to the real landing time, the driver meets you at arrivals, and the vehicle can take the whole group.
Our Nice airport to Cannes transfer page lays out the route and the booking options, and the Nice Côte d'Azur airport page covers the terminals, pickup points and waiting rules.
Landing at Nice: terminals and the meeting point
Nice Côte d'Azur has two terminals, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and the airport runs shuttles between the car parks and the terminals every 15 minutes. Check which terminal your airline uses before you fly, because it decides where the car or the shuttle meets you. With a pre-booked car the driver tracks the flight, waits in arrivals and, on request, holds a name board; international landings carry 60 minutes of free waiting, which absorbs a slow passport queue. On a morning when the airport is full of delegates, the difference between walking straight to the car and queueing for a taxi can be considerable.
If you are arriving as a group on different flights, put each flight number in the booking. One car per flight beats one car waiting for the last arrival, and each driver keeps to the real landing time.
Where delegates stay, and why it matters
Hotels fall into three bands. The first is the Croisette itself, where the big seafront hotels sit within walking distance of the Palais. The second is central Cannes, one or two streets back, a short walk but with no sea view and a calmer evening. The third is outside Cannes in Mandelieu, Le Cannet, Antibes or Nice, chosen because rooms are available or because of price.
The further out you stay, the more the question of transport becomes a question of schedule. A hotel in Antibes is about 11 km and roughly 20 minutes from Cannes by road without traffic, and a hotel in central Nice lies on the same coastal corridor as the airport run. Both are comfortable on the train and a trial by road at 08:30.
Whichever band you choose, ask three questions of the hotel before you arrive: whether it offers an early check-in, whether it has a shuttle during MIPIM week, and what its arrangements are for cars and drop-off. Seafront hotels on busy days often have restricted vehicle access, so the car may stop a short distance away and the last stretch is on foot. A good driver will know the drop-off point; ask for it in the booking notes.
The Croisette crush: mornings, evenings and lunch
The event's difficulty is time, not distance. Most of what delegates need is within a few hundred metres. What goes wrong is queues: for taxis at the Palais exit at 18:30, for restaurant tables at 20:00, and for the road along the seafront when everyone leaves a reception at once.
Plan the day around three pinch points.
- Morning arrival, 08:00 to 09:30. Delegates and exhibitors from the outer hotels converge. If you are coming by road, aim to arrive before 08:00 or after 10:00.
- Late afternoon, 17:30 to 19:30. Conference sessions end and the receptions begin. Taxis are scarce and the seafront road slows.
- Late evening, 22:00 onwards. Dinners finish and everyone wants a ride back to the outer hotels.
On a typical MIPIM day a delegate has meetings at the Palais, a lunch at a restaurant, a reception at a hotel, a yacht meeting at the Vieux Port and a dinner. None of those is far on a map. Strung together in the crowd, they add up. That is why many delegates book a car by the hour for their principals, which takes parking, queues and navigation out of the day.
Our trade show transportation page explains how we organise hourly cars, shuttles and delegate transfers for conferences of this kind. For corporate groups travelling together, the corporate events service handles the timetable for the whole delegation.
Yacht meetings and harbour moves
A good deal of MIPIM business happens on the water, in the harbour beside the Palais. The practical points are simple. Meetings on yachts are usually by invitation and a host will give you the pontoon and the time. Arrive five to ten minutes early because the pontoons have security and a guest list. Wear shoes you can walk in. A car can drop you at the harbour approach, but the final stretch is on foot.
If you are being hosted, ask whether the host's team will send a car or a tender. If you are the host, tell the driver in advance which pontoon and which entrance to use, because the nearest point a car can reach changes with the day's closures.
The return: Friday afternoon at Nice airport
The last day is the hardest. MIPIM ends on a Friday, the departures at Nice are heavy through the afternoon, and the road from Cannes is busy with delegates, weekend traffic and ordinary commuters. A flight at 18:00 that looks comfortable on paper can become a race.
Work backwards from the flight. Allow time for check-in and security, which stretches on a busy afternoon at an airport with two terminals; add the drive of about 30 km, which can take far longer than the 40-minute free-flow estimate; and add a margin for hotel departure and luggage. For an international flight we would plan to leave Cannes three to three and a half hours before departure on the final day.
If your flight leaves early on the Saturday, consider travelling to a hotel near the airport on Friday night. If your flight leaves on Friday evening, book the car for a fixed time and tell the driver the terminal and the airline. A driver who knows the airport knows which terminal door has the shorter queue.
Entry rules and other practicalities
France is in the Schengen area, so most visitors from outside Europe need a passport valid for the length of the stay and, depending on nationality, a visa or an authorisation. The EU's entry and exit system and the planned travel authorisation system are changing the arrival process; our guides to the EU Entry/Exit System and to ETIAS start dates and rules cover the current status. Allow extra time at passport control on arrival.
For the rest of the region, the Europe hub lists every airport and route we cover on the Riviera. If you plan to extend the trip, there are separate pages for Nice airport to Monaco and Nice airport to Saint-Tropez. Cannes in May is another animal altogether; our Cannes Film Festival guide deals with it.
Frequently asked questions
When is MIPIM 2027?
The organiser lists MIPIM 2027 as 16 to 19 March 2027. The Palais des Festivals lists its booking as 15 to 19 March. Confirm the programme days on the organiser's website before booking non-refundable travel.
Where is MIPIM 2027 held?
At the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, 1 boulevard de la Croisette, Cannes. The 2027 programme also names a Tech & AI Hub at the Gray d'Albion Hotel and a Luxury Living area at the Palais Stéphanie Beach, JW Marriott Cannes.
How far is Nice airport from the Palais?
The Palais gives the distance as 27 km; by road it measures about 30 km. A road-network estimate is roughly 40 minutes without traffic, and the drive takes much longer at peak times around the opening and closing of the event.
Do I need a car in Cannes during MIPIM?
Not for the main hall. The railway station is five minutes' walk from the Palais, and most central hotels are walkable. A car or hourly driver helps for outer hotels, receptions in different places, and the airport.
What is the best way from Nice airport to Cannes during MIPIM?
For a single traveller with light luggage, the airport shuttle or a train is straightforward. For groups, late arrivals or same-day meetings, a pre-booked car with flight tracking avoids queues and the risk of a missed connection.
How early should I leave Cannes for a Friday flight?
Work back from check-in and security, then add the drive of about 30 km. We would leave three to three and a half hours before an international departure on the final day, and some delegates stay near the airport the night before.
Can I get from the Palais to the train station on foot?
Yes. The Palais states that the SNCF station is a five-minute walk from the building.
