Pearson Airport Parking vs a Car Service: What a Week Away Really Costs

Parking at Toronto Pearson is cheap for a weekend and expensive for a fortnight, and the sticker price ignores fuel, 407 tolls and your own time. Here is how to run the numbers for 3, 7 and 14 days.

  • Fixed fare before you pay
  • Flight tracking
  • Licensed, insured chauffeurs

Is Pearson airport parking cheaper than a car service?

For a solo trip of up to three days, Pearson airport parking in the Value Park Garage is the option to beat. From about a week, or with two or more travellers, the gap narrows quickly once fuel, 407 tolls and the walk or train ride are added.

The honest answer depends on three numbers you can check yourself: how many days the car will sit at Pearson, how far you live from the airport, and how many people are travelling. Everything else in this article is a way of putting real figures on those three.

Two caveats before the maths. First, the parking rates below are the ones the airport's own parking pages listed when this article was written in October 2026. Airports change rates without notice, so treat them as a guide and use the airport's reservation tool for your exact dates. Second, we do not print Onroutz.ca fares in articles. The booker shows a fixed all-in fare for your pickup address, the terminal and the vehicle before you pay, and you will need that single number to finish the comparison.

What Pearson airport parking costs in 2026

Toronto Pearson sells parking in two broad families. Daily Park sits beside the terminals. Value Park is on Viscount Road, a short distance away, and connects to the terminals by the free Terminal Link train.

As listed on the airport's pages in 2026:

  • Daily Park, Terminal 1: hourly-style charges in 20-minute blocks that top out at $42 a day, with a weekly cap of $235 for the first seven days. The walk from the car to the terminal is described as three to five minutes.
  • Daily Park, Terminal 3: the same $42 daily and $235 weekly caps, with slightly lower entry charges for short stays.
  • Value Park Garage (6145 Viscount Road): $32 a day and a weekly maximum of $160 for the first seven days, then $32 for each additional day.

You can check these directly on the Toronto Pearson parking pages. A separate surface lot, Value Park Lot, is also sold on Viscount Road, and some third-party sites list different figures for it, so read the airport's own page rather than a reseller's.

Parking vs car service for 3, 7 and 14 days

Here is what the published rates add up to before fuel and tolls. The 14-day figures assume days after the first week run at the daily rate shown, which is how the Value Park Garage page words it; for Daily Park the airport's calculator gives the definitive total.

Trip lengthDaily Park (T1/T3)Value Park GarageRound-trip private car
3 daysup to $126about $96Two fixed fares from the booker
7 daysup to $235up to $160Same two fares, unchanged
14 daysabout $529about $384Same two fares, unchanged
Add for parkingFuel, 407 tolls, tax if not includedFuel, tolls, Terminal Link timeNothing: fare is all-in

The key feature of that table is the last column. A private transfer does not get more expensive because you stayed longer. The car does not wait for you; it is booked for the outbound ride and again for the return. A parked car, by contrast, bills every night it sleeps at the airport. That is why parking is strongest for a long weekend and weakest for a fortnight in Portugal.

To finish the comparison, open the booker, enter your home address and the Pearson terminal for your airline, and double the fare. Then add the extra costs in the next section to the parking side. If the private-car total is within roughly a day's parking of the parking total, the car usually wins on convenience alone.

The costs parking quotes leave out

A parking receipt is not the cost of driving yourself to the airport. Four items sit outside it.

Fuel. Take your round-trip distance to Pearson and multiply by your car's consumption. A vehicle that uses 9 litres per 100 km burns about 5 to 8 litres on the 58 to 84 km round trip from Oakville or Markham (road distances from OSRM). Run the arithmetic with your own figure.

Highway 407. Many drivers from Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan use the 407 ETR to dodge 401 congestion. The 407 ETR rate chart effective 1 January 2026 shows a trip toll charge of $1 per trip, with or without a transponder, and a camera charge of $5.30 per trip if you have no transponder. Its published per-kilometre rate for one example, a light vehicle in Zone 1 westbound on a weekday, is 97.39 cents per km at 7 am and 79.07 cents per km at 10:30 am. A 20 km stretch at the off-peak example rate is about $15.81 before the $1 trip toll and any camera charge. Rates vary by zone and time, so check the 407 ETR light-vehicle rate chart for your actual route.

Winter risk. If a storm closes the 401 on your return night, the cost is not in the parking rate, it is in the three hours you spend creeping home after a long-haul flight.

Your time. At Value Park, add the walk to the garage lift, the Terminal Link wait, the ride, and the walk at the other end. On return, add the same in reverse plus baggage reclaim. As our own allowance, that is 20 to 40 minutes at each end for most travellers; a chauffeur waiting at arrivals removes most of it.

Who should still park at Pearson

Parking beats a car service in several situations, and it is better to say so plainly.

  • A solo traveller on a two- or three-night trip. One person, one small bag, a short stay: the Value Park Garage total is hard to beat.
  • Departures at awkward hours from outside the GTA's service roads. If you live where a pre-dawn car would need a very long positioning run, driving yourself may be the only practical option.
  • Trips that begin and end the same afternoon. A same-day business trip to Montreal does not need an overnight stay in a garage or a chauffeur on both ends.

If you do park, read the entry and exit rules on the day of travel, and photograph your space number and level. It sounds trivial until you land at midnight after a nine-hour flight.

Who should book a car service instead

A private transfer starts to win on value once the party grows or the trip lengthens.

Two to four travellers. Parking costs the same for one person or four, and so does one car. Split a single fixed fare across the party and the per-head gap with parking shrinks fast.

Seven days or more. Look at the table again. At 14 days the parking bill reaches $384 to $529 before fuel and tolls. The fixed fare for the same trip has not moved.

Late-night or early-morning flights. If you land on a Sunday at 1 am and the 427 is closed for maintenance, a driver who tracks your flight and waits is calmer than a self-drive. Onroutz.ca tracks every airport pickup and includes 60 minutes of free waiting after international landings and 30 after domestic ones, so a delayed bag does not become a surcharge.

Winter. Cold-start problems, snow-covered cars at Viscount Road and a lot full of buried vehicles are real. Letting a chauffeur and a warm car handle the drive removes a failure point.

Check your fixed fare

UP Express: the third option for downtown residents

If you live downtown, neither parking nor a car is the cheapest answer. The UP Express train runs between Union Station and Pearson's Terminal 1 station, and the operator advertises Pearson to downtown in 28 minutes. As listed on the UP Express site in October 2026, the adult one-way fare is $12.35 and the round trip is $24.70, seniors pay $6.20 one way, and children 12 and under travel free. A family ticket is $25.70 one way and is sold only from ticket machines. You can confirm these on the UP Express fares page.

For one traveller with a single suitcase, the train is hard to beat on price and predictability. It stops being the best choice when you have a stroller, three bags and a 5:30 am departure, because the station walk and the connection from your door to Union Station add up. We compare the two in more detail in UP Express vs a private car between Pearson and Union.

How to decide: a five-step calculator

You can finish this in five minutes with a pen.

  1. Count the nights. Use the table above to read off the parking total for your length of stay, from the airport's own tool for the exact dates.
  2. Add fuel and tolls. Estimate round-trip kilometres to Pearson, multiply by your litres per 100 km and the pump price, then add 407 charges if you use it.
  3. Add a time allowance. Give yourself 30 minutes at each end if you park off-terminal.
  4. Get the fixed fare. Enter your address and terminal in the booker, then double it for a return, or book each leg with the right pickup address if the return goes somewhere else.
  5. Divide by travellers. If you are two or more, divide each side by the number of people to see the per-head cost.

If the car side is at or below the parking side, book the car. If it is more than about 40 per cent higher and you are travelling alone for under four nights, park. In between, the tie-breakers are winter weather, flight times and luggage.

Not sure which terminal your airline uses at Pearson? That affects both the parking lot you choose and the door your driver heads to. Our guide to Toronto Pearson Terminal 1 vs Terminal 3 sets it out airline by airline, and the page for Toronto Pearson airport transfers lists arrival points and waiting rules.

Using a car for one leg only

Many travellers split the difference: a private car out on the way to a fixed departure, when you are carrying everything, and the UP Express or a booked car home depending on how tired you are. Others park for short trips and book the car for long ones. Area pages for Mississauga and Markham cover pickup points, and our airport limo hub covers the rest of the GTA.

What about rideshare or a taxi?

A one-way rideshare or taxi to Pearson is the third common alternative to parking. The price is not fixed: rideshare fares move with demand, and a taxi is metered. Surge periods usually coincide with the same early-morning and Sunday-evening peaks when you most need a certain ride. Our guide to airport transfer vs taxi vs rideshare explains the differences, and the Pearson arrivals meeting points guide shows where each type of pickup happens on the arrivals level.

Final checklist before you decide

  • Reserve Pearson parking in advance through the airport's reservation tool if you park.
  • Confirm whether tax is included in the total you see at checkout.
  • Take a photo of your parking level and space.
  • If you book a car, give the driver your terminal and the airline; Pearson's two terminals are linked by the Terminal Link train but they are not interchangeable.
  • Check your departure time against the Pearson security wait guide so you leave home with enough margin.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to park at Toronto Pearson for a week?

In 2026 the airport's pages list a weekly cap of $235 for Daily Park and $160 for Value Park Garage, for the first seven days. Day eight and beyond are charged at the daily rate shown. Check the airport's reservation tool for your exact dates, because rates can change without notice and tax treatment varies.

Is Value Park cheaper than Daily Park at Pearson?

On the published rates, yes. Value Park Garage is listed at $32 a day, against up to $42 a day at Daily Park. The saving comes with a Terminal Link train ride each way, so you trade money for time and an extra step with luggage.

How much is a car service from the GTA to Pearson?

We do not publish fares in articles. The booker shows a fixed all-in fare for your exact address, terminal and vehicle before you pay, so you can compare it with the parking totals above. The fare does not rise if your trip runs longer or the flight is delayed.

Is it worth parking at Pearson for a long weekend?

Usually yes for one traveller. A three-day stay costs up to $126 in Daily Park or about $96 in Value Park Garage on the published rates, which is hard for a round-trip private car to beat when you are travelling alone. For two or more people the gap closes.

Does the 407 save time on the way to Pearson?

It can from Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan, where it avoids the busiest stretches of the 401. But it is a toll road: a $1 trip charge, a per-kilometre rate that changes by zone and hour, and a $5.30 camera charge per trip if you have no transponder, according to the January 2026 rate chart.

How long should I allow for Terminal Link at Value Park?

Allow 20 to 40 minutes at each end for parking, the walk to the Viscount Road lift, the train and the walk to check-in. The train itself is free of charge; baggage and queues are what stretch the total.

Can a private car wait if my flight is delayed?

Yes. Every airport pickup is flight-tracked, so the driver sees a delay as it happens. International arrivals include 60 minutes of free waiting after landing and domestic arrivals 30 minutes, which covers a slow customs hall or a late bag without a surcharge.

Is the UP Express cheaper than parking?

For a solo traveller from downtown, yes. As of 2026 the adult round trip is $24.70, far below any parking total, and the train takes about 28 minutes between Union and Pearson. It is less practical with several bags, young children or a pre-dawn start.
