Where and when is Super Bowl 2027, and how do you get to SoFi Stadium?
Super Bowl LXI will be played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Sunday 14 February 2027. The stadium is about 8 km (5 mi) by road from LAX but only a few roads feed it, so the plan matters more than the distance. No official 2027 transport plan has been published yet; the 2022 game is the best guide.
The distance from LAX to SoFi Stadium is about 8 km (5 mi), roughly ten minutes without traffic. On Super Bowl Sunday, a few miles can take an hour, and the stadium's parking, drop-off and pick-up arrangements shape the whole day. People who treat the stadium as a place you drive to on game day tend to learn this at 6 pm.
This is a planning guide, written in October 2026, four months before the game. We say plainly what has been confirmed, what comes from the last time SoFi hosted the game, and what remains to be announced.
What is confirmed, and what is not
Confirmed: the NFL's own 2026-27 important dates lists "February 14 - Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium (Inglewood, California)", which is a Sunday in 2027.
Not yet published, as far as we can find: the parking product and zone map, the shuttle and park-and-ride arrangements, the rideshare zones, the road controls around the stadium, and any public-transit enhancements. The stadium's own website carries general venue guidance: the address is 1001 S. Stadium Drive, Inglewood, it advises buying parking in advance because on-site prices rise on the day, and it tells guests to arrive early. That is the baseline for an ordinary event, not for a Super Bowl.
Everything below about 2027 is therefore a forecast built from the 2022 precedent. We will say which parts are which.
What happened at Super Bowl LVI in 2022
SoFi hosted the 2022 game, and the arrangements are the best evidence we have, though we only have them from press reports and not from an official 2027 document. Reporting by Spectrum News 1 at the time recorded, in outline:
- Parking: on-site parking was sold by pre-paid pass, with higher categories for limousines, sprinter vans and minibuses, and cheaper off-site lots served by shuttles.
- Public transport: there was no direct train to the stadium. Metro ran free shuttle buses from Hawthorne/Lennox station on the C Line, though train and bus fares still applied.
- Rideshare: post-game pick-ups carried a surcharge, and a second pick-up zone was set up on the south side of the stadium.
- Timing: gates opened hours before kickoff.
Those facts come from the Spectrum News 1 parking and transit guide and the organisers' advice to plan in advance. The organisers' own message in 2022 was to take Metro or arrange transport ahead of time, because on-site parking was limited.
The 2022 arrangements are not the 2027 arrangements, and we do not quote 2022 prices because we could not confirm them on an official site. They tell you the shape: parking by pre-paid pass, a premium for limousines and vans, a free shuttle from a rail station, and a rideshare surcharge that appears when demand does.
LAX to your hotel: the Friday and Saturday problem
The game is on a Sunday, but the airport problem is on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before it. Super Bowl week fills LAX with visitors, and the arrivals curb is the worst place to start your trip.
Know your terminal before you land, and see our LAX terminals and LAX-it pick-up guide for how pick-up works there. For the airport page itself, see our Los Angeles LAX transfers page.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rideshare from the LAX-it area | Road time as below, plus the wait and event-week traffic | Surge-priced in event week | Boot space varies | Light bags, flexible timing |
| Taxi | Road time as below, plus the queue | Metered | Boot space varies | Short notice |
| Shared airport shuttle | Depends on the other drop-offs on the run | Per-person fare | Standard bags | Solo travellers, no hurry |
| Pre-booked private car or SUV | Road time as below; driver tracking the flight | Fixed fare via booker | Sedan 2 large bags; SUV 5–6 | Groups, bags, tight schedules |
The table gives no fixed journey times, because event-week traffic is unpredictable. Road distances were calculated on the OpenStreetMap network: LAX to SoFi is about 8 km (5 mi), roughly 10 minutes without traffic; LAX to Beverly Hills about 20 km (12 mi), roughly 20 minutes; and LAX to downtown Los Angeles about 30 km (18 mi), roughly 25 minutes.
From Beverly Hills, Hollywood and downtown to the stadium
Most visitors will stay in one of three clusters, and each has its own game-day problem.
Beverly Hills and West Hollywood are about 18 km (11 mi) from the stadium by road, roughly 25 minutes without traffic. The route is the 405 or surface streets such as La Cienega, then Century Boulevard. On game day, build in at least twice that and leave before the traffic builds.
Downtown Los Angeles and the Arts District are about 18 km (11 mi) away by road, roughly 20 minutes without traffic. The 110 and 105 freeways lead to Inglewood. This is the cluster with the best public transport links, since Metro lines run through downtown, but there is no direct train to the stadium, so you will still need a shuttle at the end.
Hollywood is about 18 km (11 mi) away by road, roughly 25 minutes without traffic. The 101 and 405 carry the traffic.
The general rule is the same everywhere. Leave much earlier than you think, accept that the last mile is the slow part, and plan the return before you plan the arrival.
Where chauffeured cars stage on game day
This is the question we get most from corporate and hospitality clients, and the honest answer is that it depends on what the NFL, the stadium and the City of Inglewood publish for 2027. In 2022, press reports said the on-site parking schedule included separate categories for limousines, sprinter vans and minibuses, which suggests that chauffeured vehicles had a defined place in the plan.
What a client can do now:
- Ask your hospitality provider or ticket host what vehicle access they have. Corporate and premium ticket holders often receive a specific entrance and drop-off point.
- Expect the access to be by pass, not by name. A limousine or van needs the right credential on the day.
- Agree a pick-up point away from the main crowd. The stadium's pick-up zones are crowded after the game.
- Plan a long wait. After the final whistle, expect an hour or more before a vehicle can leave the stadium area.
- Confirm everything the week before the game. The official plan will not exist until then.
Our VIP transportation page explains how we manage multiple vehicles and legs on one booking, and the corporate events page covers group moves.
A realistic game-day timeline
Here is a framework, not a schedule. Replace the times with the real ones once the NFL publishes the kickoff and gate times.
- Four to five hours before kickoff: leave your hotel, if you are going from Beverly Hills or Hollywood. The earlier you go, the more likely the road is clear.
- Three hours before kickoff: be at the drop-off point, or on the shuttle.
- Two hours before kickoff: be through security.
- After the game: do not leave straight away. Stay in the stadium area for a while, and have a plan for the pick-up.
A booked car does one thing well: it removes the "where do I find a ride" step at the worst possible moment. It does not remove the traffic. If you are in a car with a driver, you will still sit in the queue with everyone else, and nobody can honestly promise otherwise.
Super Bowl week beyond the stadium
The game is the end of a week of events, and each has its own traffic. Fan events, concerts, brand activations and corporate dinners will fill hotels in Hollywood, Santa Monica and downtown. If you are attending several, think of the week as a series of short trips and not one long one. For companies, a single coordinator, one pick-up plan and written instructions for each leg keeps a group together.
If you are staying on after the game, the Monday is also busy. Flights out of LAX on the Monday morning will be full, and the freeways around the airport are slow. Our events hub and the USA hub cover other major events in the country.
If your Los Angeles trip includes a theme park day, the route from the airport to Anaheim is covered on our LAX to Disneyland page.
Mistakes that ruin game day
- Arriving on the day with no parking pass. The stadium says on-site prices rise on the day.
- Relying on a rideshare for the return. The 2022 game had a post-game surcharge and a long wait.
- Choosing a hotel because of distance, not roads. A hotel three miles away on the wrong side of a closure can be slower than one ten miles away.
- Planning without a plan B. If the shuttle line is long, what do you do?
- Forgetting the airport on the Monday. Leave early.
- Trusting last year's schedule. The 2027 arrangements will be new.
Frequently asked questions
When is Super Bowl LXI and where is it played?
Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for Sunday 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The NFL's own list of important dates shows the game at SoFi Stadium. The kickoff time and gate times will be published closer to the game.
How far is SoFi Stadium from LAX?
About 8 km (5 mi) by road, roughly 10 minutes without traffic. On Super Bowl Sunday and the days around it, allow far longer, and plan the airport transfer separately from the stadium trip.
Is there a train to SoFi Stadium?
Not directly. At the 2022 Super Bowl, Metro ran free shuttle buses from Hawthorne/Lennox station on the C Line, but we have not seen the 2027 arrangements. Check Metro and the NFL host committee when they publish them.
How much is parking at SoFi Stadium for the Super Bowl?
The 2027 prices have not been published, and we do not quote 2022 prices because we could not confirm them on an official site. SoFi Stadium advises buying parking in advance, because on-site prices rise on the day.
Can a rideshare take me to the stadium?
Rideshare is likely to be allowed, but with designated zones and heavy surcharges after the game. In 2022 post-game pick-ups carried a surcharge and a second pick-up zone was added. Plan to wait.
Will a chauffeured car be able to reach the stadium entrance?
Limousines and chauffeured vehicles have a defined place in stadium parking, but access is by pass and by zone, and the 2027 rules are not yet public. Ask your ticket or hospitality host which entrance and credential apply.
How early should I leave for the Super Bowl?
Earlier than you think. Plan to leave your hotel four to five hours before kickoff if you are coming from Beverly Hills or Hollywood, and to be through security well before the game. Confirm gate times once they are published.
What does a private transfer from LAX cost?
Enter LAX, your hotel and the vehicle, and the booker quotes a fixed all-in fare before you pay. We follow your flight, and the first hour of waiting after an international landing is not charged.
