A Paris airport transfer to your hotel starts with a choice most visitors do not know they are making: which airport. Charles de Gaulle (CDG), also called Roissy, lies to the north-east and takes most long-haul flights. Orly (ORY) lies to the south and is the nearer of the two to the middle of the city. Your hotel, if it is one of the palaces around the Place Vendôme, the Golden Triangle or the Trocadéro, is on the Right Bank and a long way from either runway. This page lays out every sensible route, says when the train wins, and explains how a private car from Onroutz.ca works when you would rather be met than navigate.
What is the best way to get from Paris airports to your hotel?
For a central hotel with luggage, a pre-booked private car is the simplest: the driver is in arrivals, your flight is tracked, and the car stops at the hotel entrance. From CDG allow about 45 to 75 minutes, from Orly about 30 to 55. The RER B from CDG and metro line 14 from Orly are the fast public options.
The answer shifts with your arrival time and your bags. A traveller with one case landing at Orly on a weekday morning can be in the city centre by metro in about 25 minutes and pay a fraction of any car fare. Four people landing at CDG on an overnight flight from Toronto, with a hotel off the Champs-Élysées, are better served by one vehicle and one driver than by a platform change at Gare du Nord with three trolleys.
How far is each Paris hotel district from CDG and Orly?
Distances are rounded road figures from the terminals to the middle of each district. Times assume ordinary traffic. Paris roads fill from about 07:30 to 10:00 inbound and from late afternoon outbound, and the Périphérique ring road can add twenty minutes on its own at either end of the working day.
| Hotel district | From CDG (about) | From Orly (about) | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Place Vendôme, Rue de Rivoli, Tuileries (1st) | 28–30 km / 18 mi; 45–70 min | 16–18 km / 10–11 mi; 30–50 min | Arcaded streets and one-way systems; the driver picks the approach by the hotel entrance |
| Golden Triangle, Avenue Montaigne, George V (8th) | 28–32 km / 18–20 mi; 45–75 min | 17–19 km / 11–12 mi; 30–55 min | Dense traffic on show days and fashion weeks |
| Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Concorde (8th) | 27–30 km / 17–19 mi; 45–70 min | 16–18 km / 10–11 mi; 30–50 min | Streets near government buildings can be restricted at short notice |
| Étoile, Avenue Kléber, Trocadéro (16th) | 32–35 km / 20–22 mi; 50–75 min | 17–20 km / 11–12 mi; 30–55 min | West side; close to the Périphérique at Porte Maillot |
| Quai du Louvre, Pont-Neuf, Île de la Cité | 28–30 km / 18 mi; 45–70 min | 16–18 km / 10–11 mi; 30–50 min | River quays; stopping spots are short |
Enter the exact hotel in the booker and the fare is fixed for that address. Orly is the shorter drive on paper, but most North American, Asian and Gulf services use CDG, so the airport is usually decided by your ticket, not by distance.

| Ride-hailing app | Same road time | Surge-priced; varies by demand | Depends on the car | Cases where the taxi rank is long |
The French government publishes the taxi flat fares and booking supplements on service-public.gouv.fr; the fares above are the 2025 figures listed there and can be revised, so check before you travel. All the hotels listed below are on the Right Bank, which is the cheaper zone for CDG and the dearer one for Orly. Île-de-France Mobilités runs the trains and metro, and its line 14 extension replaced the Orlybus when it reached Orly. Its website blocks automated link checks, so we do not link it here; search for the operator's English timetable pages.
Free hotel shuttle from Paris airport: does it exist?
This is a common question, and the honest answer is: not for the hotels on this page. Free courtesy buses are run by hotels in the airport zone around Roissy and Orly. They collect guests at set stops, usually within a short distance of the terminals. The palace hotels and boutique addresses in the middle of Paris do not operate an airport shuttle that we know of. Ask your hotel directly. If it does offer a paid car, you can compare that price with our fixed fare before you commit.
When the train or metro is the better choice
Take the RER B from CDG when you are alone or travelling light, your hotel is near a station, and you land between early morning and mid-evening. The line does not use the A1 motorway, so a road accident does not slow it. The trains are crowded at rush hour, and stations have steps, so it is a poor fit for large cases or reduced mobility.
Take metro line 14 from Orly if the hotel is close to a stop on the line or you can change easily. The ride from Orly to Châtelet is about 25 minutes, and the line runs underground, clear of the roads. The Right Bank hotels around Concorde and the Tuileries are a short walk or a single change from it.
We would rather you took the train on a quiet Tuesday with a backpack than book a car you do not need. The case for the private transfer follows.
When a private car wins
- Three or more travellers. One vehicle covers everyone, and the luggage stays with you.
- Long-haul fatigue. Eight hours in a seat, then a platform change with a trolley. A driver who takes the bags is a real difference.
- Late or early arrivals. Your flight is tracked, so a 23:40 landing still ends with a person at arrivals rather than a closed train line.
- Children and older relatives. Child, toddler and booster seats can be added at booking.
- Business. A meeting at 10:00 after a 06:30 landing leaves no room for a missed connection.
- Privacy. A quiet car, a chauffeur who does not chat, and an alias on the name board if you prefer.
The fleet page shows every vehicle class, and first-time bookers can start with how private airport transfers work.

Arrival logistics at CDG and Orly
You give the booker a flight number and we set the pickup from it, because the terminal and arrivals hall depend on the airline. CDG has three terminals, with a free automatic shuttle linking Terminals 1 and 3 with the RER B station, and Terminal 2 has its own station. Orly is a single compact site, and your driver will tell you which door to meet at in the confirmation.
What you can expect on the day:
- Your confirmation names the vehicle class (Executive Sedan, First Class Sedan, Luxury SUV, Executive Sprinter, or similar) and the meeting point.
- Flight tracking begins at departure, so the pickup shifts with an early or late arrival.
- The driver holds a name board in arrivals. For privacy, an alias can go on the board.
- After an international landing there are 60 minutes of free waiting; after a domestic landing, 30. That covers passport control and a slow carousel.
- The driver loads your bags and drives you to the hotel entrance or the nearest legal stop.
The airport operator publishes terminal maps and live information at Paris Aéroport. If your onward plan includes the Eurostar, Gare de Lyon and the other main stations are covered under rail transfers.
Luggage, families and groups
Palace-hotel stays often come with a lot of luggage and a lot of shopping on the way back. An Executive Sedan carries two large and two cabin bags for up to three passengers. A Luxury SUV seats up to six with five to six large bags, which suits a family. An Executive Sprinter takes up to 12 passengers and 12 bags for delegations, and mini-coaches and coaches of 20 to 56 seats are available on request. For multi-vehicle arrivals, the Sprinter van with driver page explains the group option, and the corporate meetings guide shows how we handle conference arrivals.
Night, early morning and Fashion Week
Paris airports receive a stream of late long-haul flights, and the RER B and metro do not run around the clock. On a late landing, the road is the quick part; the airport itself can still take an hour to clear. Early departures are the reverse, and a 07:00 flight from CDG means leaving the centre at about 04:30, when the roads are empty and the drive takes 30 to 40 minutes. Fashion weeks, held twice a year in late winter and early autumn, push central traffic to its limit around Avenue Montaigne and the Golden Triangle, so allow the top of the range.
VIP, discreet and high-profile arrivals
Several of these hotels host heads of delegation, performers and executives. Several of these hotels host people who value quiet. Drivers keep arrivals private, never photographing guests or posting about them, and a signed NDA is available on request. Onroutz.ca provides transport only. It does not supply armed drivers or bodyguards, and the car works alongside any security team a client brings. See VIP transportation and the meet and greet options for arrivals that need extra care.
How the Paris transfer works with Onroutz.ca
Onroutz.ca is a transfer desk based in Toronto. In France, the ride is delivered by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local transfer partner, and Onroutz.ca books, confirms, supports and invoices it from Toronto: one booking, one confirmation, one invoice, one 24/7 contact. Partner vehicles are no more than four model years old, up to seven for Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Maybach. We do not own cars or offices in France. For the airport side of the story, see the Paris CDG airport page, and for other Paris legs, Beauvais to Paris and CDG to Disneyland Paris.
Entry rules before you land
France is in the Schengen Area. The European Union is phasing in its Entry/Exit System at external borders and plans a travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors; the current status is explained at travel-europe.europa.eu. Check what your passport requires well before departure. Time spent at the border desk is covered by the free waiting allowance below.
Pair this with the rest of your trip
If your trip continues south, see the Rome airport-to-hotel transfer or the Athens airport-to-hotel transfer. The Europe hub lists every city we cover, and all our hotel pages sit under hotel transfers. For the wider comparison of private cars, taxis and apps, read our airport transfer versus taxi versus rideshare guide. The travel desk can sequence a multi-city itinerary.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest way to get from a Paris airport to my hotel?
The public options, the RER B from CDG and line 14 from Orly, are the lowest-cost routes, and the transit authority sets their fares. A private car is a fixed-fare service quoted before you book, and it makes sense for three or more people, heavy luggage, children or a late arrival.
How much is a taxi from CDG or Orly to a Paris hotel?
Parisian taxis run flat fares set by decree: €56 from CDG to the Right Bank and €65 to the Left Bank, €45 from Orly to the Right Bank and €36 to the Left Bank, as of the 2025 figures on service-public.gouv.fr. Booking and passenger supplements apply. Our private fare is different and fixed, shown in the booker.
Is there a free shuttle from Paris airports to city hotels?
Free shuttles belong to hotels in the airport area. The central hotels on this page are not among them, as far as we know, so ask your hotel. If you want a car, the booker shows a fixed fare for your hotel before you pay.
Is Uber cheaper than a taxi or a private transfer from CDG?
An app fare moves with demand, so it can be lower or higher than the regulated taxi flat fare. A private transfer is quoted as a fixed fare in advance, which suits people who want a known price and a named driver at arrivals. Compare the three on your exact date.
Can the driver take me from CDG to my hotel after a very late arrival?
Yes. Your flight is tracked, and the free waiting clock starts at actual landing: 60 minutes after an international arrival and 30 after a domestic one. If a flight is badly delayed or rebooked, tell the 24/7 desk and the pickup is moved.
Can you provide a child seat?
Child, toddler and booster seats are reserved when you book. Give us each child's age and weight, because a seat cannot be sourced once the car is at the kerb.
What is your cancellation policy?
More than 72 hours' notice: no charge. 72 hours or less: 10%. 48 hours or less: 50%. 24 hours or less, or a no-show: 100%, counted from the scheduled pickup. Peak events occasionally use a different cut-off, which is stated on the confirmation.
