How do I get from Las Vegas airport to my hotel?
Harry Reid International (LAS) is only about 5 to 13 km (3 to 8 mi) from most Strip hotels. A private car meets you in baggage claim, a taxi uses a fixed zone fare, rideshare uses a garage pickup, and RTC buses and hotel shuttles run on set routes. Door-to-door takes 10 to 35 minutes.
Las Vegas is an airport trip with an unusual feature: the destination is so near that the drive is the easy part. A taxi can have you at Mandalay Bay in ten minutes. Yet it is easy to spend longer than that in a pickup queue, walking through a garage to find a rideshare, or standing at a hotel valet trying to work out where the shuttle stopped.
This page is the hotel-transfer view of that problem. It lays out the airport's pickup points, the distances to the south, middle and north Strip, the posted taxi zone fares, how a private car compares, and the harder question of how to get from one hotel to another once you are in town. It is aimed at travellers who land with luggage, with children, or after midnight, as well as business visitors with a hotel check-in and a meeting to make.
Las Vegas airport transfer to hotel: your options at a glance
The airport, officially Harry Reid International Airport and formerly known as McCarran, has Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Its own website lists the ground transportation choices as taxis, rideshare, limousines, public buses, inter-city and hotel shuttles, and rental cars.
| Mode | Door-to-door time | Cost note | Luggage | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Private car or limousine (Onroutz.ca) | 10 – 35 min plus walk to the car | Fixed fare via booker, quoted before you pay | Sedan 2 large + 2 cabin; SUV 5 – 6 large; Sprinter 12 | Groups, late arrivals, conferences, meet and greet |
| Taxi | 10 – 35 min plus queue | Zone fares set by the Nevada Taxicab Authority, plus fees | Fine for several bags | Travellers who want no plan |
| Rideshare | 10 – 35 min plus walk to the garage | Surge-priced at peaks | Depends on vehicle | Light luggage, flexible timing |
| RTC public bus | 30 – 60 min, with transfers | Local bus fare | One or two bags | Budget-minded solo travellers |
| Hotel or inter-city shuttle | Varies, with stops | Often shared | Per-person limits | Shared rides with no vehicle choice |
The Nevada Taxicab Authority publishes approximate zone fares from the airport to Strip hotels. As of 2026 they are $22.25 for zone 1 (Sunset Road north to Tropicana Avenue), $26.25 for zone 2 (Tropicana north to Flamingo Road) and $30.25 for zone 3 (Flamingo north to the Stratosphere area). The authority adds that an airport properties fee of $2.40 per pickup, a $3.00 card fee and a 3 percent excise tax apply, with fuel surcharges that vary, and that time of day, route, traffic and destination can change the fare (Nevada Taxicab Authority). That gives you a baseline for comparing with any fixed fare.
Where to find your ride at Harry Reid
Pickup points differ by terminal and by type of ride, and they are the main reason travellers lose time.
- Taxis. Terminal 1: outside baggage claim on the east side, near doors 1 to 4. Terminal 3: outside on Level Zero, near door 52.
- Rideshare. Terminal 1: Level 2 of the parking garage. Terminal 3: the Valet Level of the parking garage. Signs inside the terminal direct you (airport taxi and ride share page).
- Limousines and private shuttles. Terminal 1: the west side of baggage claim, outside exit doors 7 to 10. Terminal 3: Level Zero at each end of the building. If you pre-booked a limousine or car service, the airport says your driver meets you in baggage claim (airport limousine page).
- Buses and shuttles. The RTC runs public buses, with inter-city shuttles, hotel shuttles and courtesy buses between terminals listed on the airport's buses and shuttles page.
The airport has also posted that lane closures in the northbound and southbound airport connector tunnels are scheduled through December 2026 for repaving, and asks passengers to allow extra time. That notice may have lapsed when you read this; check before you fly.
With Onroutz.ca, the key difference is that nobody asks you to find a garage. The chauffeur meets you in baggage claim with a name board, or waits at the pickup point named in your confirmation, and walks you to the car. The airport describes meeting in baggage claim as the way pre-arranged drivers operate.
Distances and drive times from the airport to the Strip
| Destination | Distance | Typical drive | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Excalibur, Tropicana | about 4 – 6 km / 2.5 – 4 mi | 10 – 15 min | South Strip |
| MGM Grand, Park MGM, Aria, Cosmopolitan, Bellagio | about 6 – 9 km / 4 – 5.5 mi | 12 – 20 min | Central Strip |
| Caesars Palace, Venetian, Harrah's, Wynn, Encore | about 9 – 13 km / 5.5 – 8 mi | 15 – 25 min | Mid to north Strip |
| Resorts World, Fontainebleau, Sahara | about 12 – 15 km / 7.5 – 9 mi | 20 – 35 min | North Strip |
| Fremont Street, downtown | about 14 – 17 km / 9 – 10 mi | 20 – 30 min | Downtown |
Distances are approximate road distances for planning. Friday afternoons, convention weeks and show nights stretch each number. The Strip itself runs about 6.8 km (4.2 mi) from end to end, and the hotel you choose largely decides the length of the ride: a south Strip arrival is almost instant; a north Strip arrival crosses the busiest section of Las Vegas Boulevard.
What a private car does that the queue cannot
The advantages are mundane but real:
- No queue. The chauffeur is waiting when you reach baggage claim.
- Flight tracking. If you land at 11:40 p.m. instead of 11:10, the car moves with you. You have 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing and 30 after a domestic one.
- Hotel entrance knowledge. Resorts here are large, with multiple entrances. Telling the booker whether you prefer the main porte-cochere or a quieter side door decides how far you walk to the front desk.
- Luggage space. A Luxury SUV takes up to six passengers and five or six large bags; an Executive Sprinter takes 12 passengers and 12 bags.
- Fixed fare. The booker shows an all-in fare for your exact pickup, drop-off and vehicle before you pay, so there is no meter and no fee table to read.
How it works: Onroutz.ca is a private-transfer desk based in Toronto. In Las Vegas the car is driven by a vetted, licensed and commercially insured local partner with a US-licensed chauffeur. The Toronto desk books, confirms, supports and invoices it, so there is one confirmation, one invoice and one 24/7 contact. Vehicles are no more than four model years old. Infant carriers, toddler seats and boosters are available; request them when you book. Most vehicles carry water and a phone charger.
Late arrivals and early departures
Las Vegas is a 24-hour city, and flights land at all hours. Late-night arrivals are the best case for a pre-booked car: the taxi queue may be short, but a hotel front desk check-in at 1 a.m. is smoother when the driver has already called ahead to say you are on the way. For departures, ask the booker for a pickup that leaves you time for the security checkpoint; the airport publishes estimated wait times for each checkpoint on its website.

How do I get from one hotel to another in Vegas?
This is the question visitors ask once they are in town, and the honest answer is that walking is deceptive. Hotel entrances are far apart and pedestrian bridges add distance. The practical options are:
- Monorail. The Las Vegas Monorail links the Convention Center and Westgate to several Strip hotels along the east side of the Strip, with its own hours and fare. It does not serve the Venetian Expo.
- Taxis and rideshare. Quick when the queue is short; surge-priced at busy times.
- A private car by the hour. For dinners, a show and a late return, an hourly booking holds one chauffeur and one vehicle for the evening. See limousines and the full services list.
- Airport return on the same booking. A multi-leg itinerary lets you book arrival, a hotel move midweek and the departure on one reservation.
When the taxi or the bus is the better choice
If you are travelling alone, carrying a single bag and landing at midday, the taxi zone fare listed above is a fair deal and the queue is short. If you are arriving at a hotel on the south Strip, even the bus can work. The private car wins when you are three or more travellers, when you have children and car seats, when you land late, when you have a conference to reach or when you want certainty about the cost before you go. Our guide on airport transfers versus taxis and rideshare goes through the full list.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from the Las Vegas airport to the Strip?
The Nevada Taxicab Authority lists zone fares as of 2026 of $22.25, $26.25 and $30.25 for the three Strip zones, before an airport fee of $2.40, a card fee of $3.00 and a 3 percent tax. Route and traffic can change the fare.
Are taxis in Vegas cash only?
No. The Nevada Taxicab Authority lists a $3.00 credit and debit card fee, which means cards are accepted. Check with the driver before you start the ride if you need a receipt for expenses.
What is the cheapest way to get from Las Vegas airport to my hotel?
For one traveller, the RTC public bus is cheapest and the taxi zone fare is usually the next. For three or more, a shared taxi fare or a fixed-fare private car compares well and saves time.
Is it cheaper to take a cab or Uber from Las Vegas airport?
It varies. A taxi zone fare is fixed; rideshare is app-priced and surges when flights land together. Compare in real time, and remember rideshare pickups are in the parking garage.
How do I transfer from the airport to my hotel?
Take the signs to your pickup: taxis at the terminal edge, rideshare in the garage, limousines at the baggage claim side. With a pre-booked Onroutz.ca car, your driver meets you in baggage claim.
How do I get from one hotel to another in Vegas?
Use the monorail for the east side of the Strip, a taxi or rideshare for short hops, or an hourly private car for an evening. Walking looks short on a map and is long in practice.
Where do limousines pick up at Harry Reid airport?
At Terminal 1, on the west side of baggage claim outside doors 7 to 10; at Terminal 3, on Level Zero at each end of the building. Pre-arranged drivers meet you in baggage claim.
Can I book a car for a group?
Yes. A Luxury SUV seats up to six and an Executive Sprinter up to 12. Groups beyond twelve move in mini-coaches or coaches of 20 to 56 seats, on request. Give the passenger and bag count in the booker.
